Not to pile on, but I feel the need to drive this point home:

In Barry Sanders' best season he rushed for 897 yards and 16 TDs more than LaMichael James in his best season so far, and Sanders had fewer games to do it in. Plus, Sanders did all of this in confined spaces rather than the spread offense that James benefits from. Sanders did his work with more guys in the box than James ever really faces.

James' 1731 + 897 = Sanders' NCAA official 1988 season of 2628 yards. That actually doesn't include his bowl performance of 222 yards and 5 TDs that year - he really ran for 2850 yards (1119 more than Lames) - the NCAA should just allow old bowl game numbers to be included in their records.
