Game Thread Orange Bowl: tOSU vs Clemson, Jan 3, 8:30 ET, ESPN

Before everyone puts this on Brax (and that was a horrible pass) the offense scored 35 points. In my lifetime that has always been enough to win and should have been tonight. The defense played better than I expected and still have up 40. I am not sure if having Roby and Spence would have even made that much of a difference. Sloppy play. Bad loss. Not good football.

When Tressel and Pryor left, OSU Football needed 3 things:

1. A coach that has run a big time program. Urban is that coach.
2. A QB you can trust with the ball who can throw. Miller is better than Pryor but that upgrade is like going from a Fiat to a Ford Focus when you need a BMW or Audi or MB AMG. Still not there - Hopefully Barrett or Jones comes through next year
3. They need a Defense coach - Heacock's numbers were good against small schools but get to the NC and OSU got blown out. Keeping Fickell was a mistake. They need a major upgrade here!

Looking like maybe they didn't get what they needed as the Offensive coach although at times they look good. Maybe with a better passing QB they can get better play calling

I'd be more mad, but as badly outplayed we were tonight I actually find some relief that the score suggested a highly competitive game. Inexplicably, we could well have won this had Miller been physically able to make that last throw. That's something when you consider how good Tajh and Sammy are, and how badly they gashed our pudding-like D.
