'Hurricane' Girl Tries To Ride To Ohio
8-Year-Old Florida Girl Afraid Of Hurricanes Tries To Ride Bicycle To Ohio


DELAND, Fla., Aug. 17, 2007(AP) An 8-year-old girl who recently moved to Florida caused a panic when she tried to ride back home to Ohio on her bicycle out of fear of hurricanes. A sheriff's helicopter, search dogs and neighbors found the girl after an hour-long search Wednesday night.

"It is amusing but at the same time sad," DeLand police Deputy Chief Randel Henderson said.

According to a police report, Heather Snoke told investigators "that she was headed back to Columbus Ohio, because she was afraid of hurricanes and that was her home."

Police stated that while the Hurricanes had lost much of their strength of late, news of last season's rioting had left the child wary of the upcoming season. The little girl added that she had attempted to leave the state once before due to her dislike of Gators.

I think on behalf of BuckeyePlanet we should send this girl an "Atta Girl" plaque... at least she tried to escape and head back to civilization... fortunate for her she is smarter than her parents.




Why? WHY? (with the exception of Loky, who was trying to out run his MIL) would anyone move to Florida... :shake:

When I got laid-off, I looked for work... anywhere.

I ended up in Tallahassee. I have lived in more than a dozen places in 7 different states, and I've liked them all (including Ft. Lauderdale) until now. I frickin' hate it here.

I'm not exaclty sure what that means... but... doesn't seem like a ringing endorsement to me.
