Opening/Holding Door for a Lady

    • Ok, its easy to pull open the door and hold it as she walks through, but if the door opens inward, (ie pushes open) how do you hold it?

    Do you push it with you hand and leave your arm extended as she walks through?

    or

    Do you walk through first and then hold the door open for her?


    I push it open and leave my arm extended.

    I'll usually walk through and hold it once I've passed through, but standing sideways and holding the door open with an arm extended could allow for a cheap rubbing of the breastal area. I'll have to give that a shot. :p

    We're talking technique here, sandgk. Holding the door is a foregone conclusion, it's how one holds the door that's at issue. :wink: :p

    As far as me, I tend to push open the door with extended arm and let the lady walk through first. Now, if it's one of those tricky entrances with two sets of doors, I open the first and walk through, holding that door with my foot, then push the second door open and hold it with extended arm, thereby holding both doors open at once. It's not too bad, unless there's a crowd on our heels. :p

    the proper way to do this is actually to walk through yourself and then hold the door. However, it you have long enough arms to open the door and stay out of her way then it is fine to hold open from the outside. The bottom line is that it should be effortless for her so if she is dodging you or has to squeeze by you then you should have just walked through.

    does it matter? If they don't mind a door being held, I'm sure they'll appreciate the effort.

    Yes, but as others have stated, you get a cheap grazing of the breastal region this way.

    Sure, that's how you do it on those lame ass hinged doors. Let me see you do this shit on one of those fancy revolving doors. Those things are a real pain in the ass to hold open. And then when you do, everyone just gets pissed at you. Fuckin ingrates....

    I too have taught my sons to hold open a door for a female or for anyone else if they are first to a door. Leaving the club today, my 9 year old waited an extra 5 seconds at the door to first hold it open for a woman who was pushing a stroller, then he waited another couple of seconds to hold it open for an older (70ish) woman. Made me quite proud!
