One Gargantuan ND Outhouse of a Thread (MERGED)

Let the cards fall...
Funniest thing I've read all day (involves Notre Dame)

Three Things I Can't Wait To See This Fall From The Independents
Pat Forde

1. A confident Brady Quinn, operating behind an experienced line and armed with a better offense at Notre Dame. You read it here first: Quinn will emerge as a Heisman candidate.

2. Bobby Ross' second year at Army. He had the Black Knights playing better last year and it will be interesting to see the steps they make this season.

3. Navy continuing to show that you can still win by embracing the running game.

:slappy: I mean, is this guy joking? Brady Quinn a heisman candidate? That is absolutely hilarious. It entertains me how Notre Dame starts off every year as a powerhouse (in the eyes of the media), and finish as a mid major.

quinn may not deserve the hype but he will probably get it.

ND should be much better on O with everyone back. yes it is a new system and that always throws you off a step, but it isn't like the last system was anythingt special so i expect massive improvements, maybe 20's of points per game every week except the last. quinn will share posterboy status of the 'resurection of ND football' with weis and will have all the media attention he can eat as long as they start out hot on the road.

ND will be better on O but probably not as good on D.

They will always be a bunch of ball washing bastards.

chris rix's heisman candidacy looked better going into last season compared to quinn now. Weis may know offensive football, but it doesn't mean he can pass it along to quinn in one offseason.

Norm Chow would know

I watched Norm Chow run his offense last year and it usually seemed rough to start every single game. He'd come out and the offense would sometimes struggle to convert on 3rd down but the offense would come out again and again and run their sets until they started to work and that really impressed me. Norm never decided to take the easy route and just run the ball because he could. He amazed me because he could run for eleven yards a carry but he'd develop the passing game until it was clicking on all cylinders and the running game was just like stealing after that point. I loved Chow's playcalling. He did what he wanted to do until it finally worked and then the rest was like highway robbery because the defense would fold up like origamy.

At the end of last year I could've swore Tressel was studying up on it. I love offense.

I don't know what to expect from the tuna Charlie but I think he'll have some success. Brady Quinn has the tools. His o-line, I'm not too sure. His receivers- ouch. The USC game last year looked like the Irish had the bodies to keep up, but not the brains. The receivers kept dropping passes all second quarter and by late 3rd quarter USC was leaving their first string in to make it look silly... just MY HO!

ND gets unwarranted BCS love

www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7659924/<!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END-->

"Beginning in 2006, Notre Dame will earn an automatic BCS berth with a top eight ranking in the final standings, Weiberg said. Also, under a new arrangement, Notre Dame is now guaranteed BCS money every season — even when they don’t play in a game."

Unbelievable.

They've been talking about this for awhile. Basically, ND gets less money in years they make the BCS compared to before, but they get guaranteed money every year.

I don't have a problem with ND doing it. Hell, if you have that kind of clout, use it. I would be pissed if USC passed on such an opportunity out of some sort of desire for equality with everyone else. It isn't like this money is going to charity anyway. It was going into somebody's pocket (and not Joe Fan).

Of course, this sure doesn't seem like a ringing endorsement of Weis.

O-LINE is back, Darius Walker back, one of the best tight end's in football back and the top 4 recievers back! Hmmmmm!
If ND can do it up in Ann Arbor come Sept. 10th, then you can start blowing your horn about how good they are going to be NDChief !!! You should be a little more concerned with ND's schedule rather than someone possibly being considered for a longshot at Heisman...

p.s. good to see ya still around NDCheif, ya ol fart.. :)
pss I do hope Notre Dame does well and good luck. They have a great tradition there and you have to admire the way fans stick with the team even though they have had some tough years as of late.
