Which countries will finish 1-2-3 in the overall medal count at the Beijing Olympics?
The countries will be ranked by the total medals won after the final awards ceremony of the Games. If there is a tie, it will be broken by the most Gold medals; if there's still a tie, the most Silver medals. If there's still a tie, both sequences describing the tie will be paid.
To illustrate, here's an example for 5 countries:
A - 100 total: 40 Gold, 30 Silver, 30 Bronze
B - 090 total: 30 Gold 30 Silver, 30 Bronze
C - 090 total: 30 Gold 31 Silver, 29 Bronze
D - 090 total: 30 Gold, 31 Silver, 29 Bronze
E - 089 total: 41 Gold, 31 Silver, 17 Bronze
Sequences of A-C-D and A-D-C would both be paid out. Team E has the most Gold Medals, but isn't in the top-3 of total medals. Team B ties for second place in total medals, but loses the tie-breaker to both C and D.
