My party pooping does not even begin to compare with a C&D from Skywalker Ranch, ILM, LucasFilm.

Not to worry sir. When all is said and done - money talks in these matters. Alumni money isn't going to the good Admiral no matter what the students vote.

Will be fun to look in the Ole Miss Student section over the next few seasons and see the Akbar costumes though! Certainly something never before seen on "The Grove"

I dunno....George Lucas seems like the kind of guy who would let people use his characters for free.

That bastard Lucas can do whatever he wants to a phone company, but now he's messing with good stout, the fucker.

Beer Wars
The Dark Side!: The Imperial Stout Trooper's final jump

WOODBRIDGE

Beloved by beer nerds (ranked No. 87 in BeerAdvocate.com's "top beers of the planet") and scorned by George Lucas, the Imperial Stout Troopers is no more.

Rob Leonard, owner and brewer at New England Brewing Co., received a cease-and-desist letter from George Lucas and Lucasfilms' legal department on Jan. 5, just weeks after distributing his third yearly batch of the imperial stout, a type of dark beer. At issue: the playful-looking Storm Trooper wearing beer-filled goggles on the beer's label.

"I guess there's a filmmaker who has a similar looking character," Leonard laughs.

Don't fret, beer lovers! Leonard will continue brewing, and hand-bottling this beer, he'll just have to come up with a new name and label for the stout. Company CEO Bill Pastyrnak playfully suggests a cartoon image of George Lucas, with fistfuls of money, stomping on New England Brewing Co.

"The sad part is, this beer got very, very popular," says Leonard. "It's traded all across the country for really hard -to-get beers. With the beer geeks and the Star Wars geeks, this is a big, heavy hitter."

So big that when, earlier this month, New Haven's beer-and-burger joint Prime 16 offered a tasting of the Imperial Stout Trooper the entire cask of beer was gone in half an hour.

So what's the Imperial Stout Trooper like? It's as black as Darth Vader and very drinkable with a taste of chocolate and coffee.

Due to its rarity, taste and Star Wars nod, this beer is a collector's item just made more valuable by Lucasfilms' legal letter.
