Ole Miss 10 at S. Carolina 16 (final)

Say what you like about the computers but, on average, they ranked Mississippi #20 and South Carolina #44 coming into this game. Neither team looked top 25 to me on this night.

I watched the game until halfway through the 3rd quarter. I love how ESPiN talks about Mississippi being over-hyped on one game report and then talks about how South Carolina "finally got a signature win" on another. :slappy:

Mississippi is what we get when a team in an over-hyped league runs up the score against cupcakes (Southeastern Louisiana? Memphis?) while everyone clears their throat when the topic of quarterback play comes up.

Jevan Snead looked great rallying his teammates on the sideline for the TV cameras shouting "We're #1!", but Mississippi was anything but #1 primarily because of Jevan Snead. He overthrew wide receivers all night, just as he had in their first two games. Mississippi's line played well most of the game and their running backs got some good gains, but the performance was middle Big Ten level, if that.

Both defenses looked very good at times. The media will tell us that South Carolina's defense looked awesome. In truth, they looked good but Snead flattered them by constantly overthrowing wide open receivers. They should have intercepted at least three balls in the time I watched.

Mississippi was not a top 5 team. On the night, they were not a top 25 team.

In my opinion, this should be no surprise. Nutt has always looked lost since being separated from Dick and Johnson.

Not only did one of the commentators say that S. Carolina is a top 15 team, but on Sportscenter right after the game, one of the ESPN guys said something to the effect of "This shows once again that there are no easy games in the SEC."

Please. Everyone outside the South knew that Ole Miss was incredibly overrated coming into the season. Last night, they lost to a team whose offense is a comedy of errors--the QB who repeatedly short-hopped his receivers and completed 47% of his passes, the WRs who dropped and/or juggled many passes, and the offense had exactly zero first downs in the fourth quarter. That is not a sign of one good team beating another. It is indicative of an overrated team losing on the road to a bad team.

What a horrible game and a horrible horrible broadcast. Was this the debut of "SEC ESPN". The whole game it felt like the broadcasters were trying to make up for Ole Miss and then when it became apparent that the Rebel's were frauds they tried to make SC sound like amazing talent. This was about as competitive as Purdue vs Northwestern. Give me a break top 15 team.
