As a Buckeye

Four-year letter winner from 1980 to 1983, a starter at left tackle for most of his last three years.

As a pro

A first-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 1984, he played 10 years with the Giants, then two years with New England and one with the Jets.

The skinny

Roberts was a Bill Parcells favorite, following the Tuna throughout his late career. A Pro Bowl selection in 1990, Roberts was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams with Parcells and the Giants.

Best memory of William Roberts as a New York Giant:

His greatest celebrity came from his on-the-field dance in January 1987 with Pepper Johnson, the linebacker, after the Giants' Super Bowl XXI victory. They did a funky dance at midfield just moments after the game ended. Calling it "the dog" they said it was a dance they learned at a fraternity party while teammates at Ohio State.

SUPER BOWL XXI - NOTEBOOK - Los Angeles Times

John Madden's comments on their dance was something like: "It doesn't get any better than this and you remember it the rest of your like".
