Redskins | T. Walter better suited for guard

Paul Woody, writing for the Sporting News, reports Washington Redskins OT Tyson Walter is better suited to play guard. With OT Jim Molinaro (knee) out with a torn meniscus, Walter has taken his spot as the backup to OT Chris Samuels. Walter has played tackle before, but his size and footwork fit better at guard.

Injury update

Veteran offensive lineman Tyson Walter was placed on injured reserve after it was learned he ruptured a tendon in his foot during the preseason finale against Tennessee.

Walter finished the game despite feeling soreness in his foot. His agent, Brad Leshnock, said Walter had an MRI on Friday and will need surgery.

"It's a six-to-nine month injury," Leshnock said. "He's going to have a couple of foot specialists look at it and then have the surgery."

Walter was a good bet to make the roster as the backup center/guard. The sixth-year veteran will receive his entire base salary of $595,000.
