OL Reid Fragel (Official Thread)

I like this offer...He fits the prototype extra tackle type TE that we like and he is a big target to hit in the passing game...
With us using more 2 TE sets, that "extra tackle" type becomes a real asset to the team for both run and pass support. If he's used this way, he also could be that player that would be the absolute last guy expected to catch a pass, which we could use to our advantage when everybody else is man-to-man and double covered. Besides, you gotta love trying to steal another one from that state up north... especially when he's a 6'8" TE

Haven't seen film of him yet, but an offer from Tress for a position of great need next year warrants my trust.

Is Reid the only TE we've offered in the '09 class so far? Just looked through the database and didn't see any others.

Just curious because he seems to be a bit of a a long shot.

I believe we have offered Dion Simms out of Michigan as well.

Yes. Thus far, Reid is the only TE offer for the '09 class.

We REALLY needed a TE in last year's class, especially since last year had a bumper crop in-state at the position. After graduations this year, we will have 2 TEs on scholarship (Ballard & DiLillo), so we need 1 for sure and perferably 2 in this class, though 2 seems doubtful at this point. Reid has a big chance to come in and play early if he decides to play ball south of the state line.

Yeah, I hear ya on that. We certainly need a TE or 2 this year. That's why I was curious about offers.

Thanks for the answer.

Anyone who thinks Fragel is a long shot is mistaken...

Scout $

4/24

By The Bank...OSU and MSU have offered. Says he is fairly wide open but is very interested in Ohio State and Michigan State. Looking for strong academics and football tradition.

Let's leave the premium info about Reid's trip to Columbus for the permium boards.

But it's such a good story. Haha.

Seriously though. I really like this offer. Big TE prospect. Could possibly grow into an OT, although he wants to be a TE.

Everyone thought Ballard would end up at OT too...

Everyone except for me...I so called both Ballard, Miller, and Coleman. After I covered Ballard at a 7 on 7 I knew he was too good of an athlete to play OL...he is a rare case though with that size. I think I even got dinged by some for saying Ballard would stay at TE and Coleman plays safety  Anyways, I haven't seen any film on Fragel yet but it's nice to see a TE offer.
