OL Michael Brewster (Official Thread)

Not once has he (on or off the field) tried to blame Bollman or any other coach, or his fellow seniors that put him in this situation for his final year, when that would be easy and quite frankly, it would be accurate.

Quoted for truth.

I can't imagine how exciting it is for the young players to turn the page and get to work again next season. It's a shame that Brewster won't get to experience that excitement and his final season in Columbus ended on such a down note.

No matter what happens with the coaching staff in the next few weeks, it would be nice if this team could rally and beat the hell out of some poor over matched team in a bowl game.

The senior's legacy this season will be an extremely complicated one, but helping pave the way for the new regime through bowl practices wouldn't be a bad way to go out.

Jumping the snap count

The Gators attributed some of their season-high six sacks and 12 tackles for loss to Ohio State center Mike Brewster, who, according to Florida lineman Jaye Howard, bobbed his head just before the snap.

?He was bobbing his head the whole game with the count,? Howard said. ?We watched film, broke down the Penn State game, and he did it then, too. It helped a lot. You can see what we were able to do. We were able to jump the snap.?

One of the former players (can't remember who) tweeted that the snap count was always one...Could have been sarcastic but I doubt it...

It was Cordle. Cordle also stated that Bollman tried to implement different snap counts but the OL constantly false started.

Not Bollman's fault necessarily that we can't go on two. After the MSU game he tried to install it but false starts were nonstop.

I'd expect the head bob thing from a freshman, not a senior. A coach should have seen that on film and corrected it a long time ago.

And we never varied the snap count, are you kidding me?! My high school team could do that.

Scott Sika basically said the same thing.

Edit: regarding the snap count never varying.

So much for Block-O. I remember clearly how stoked everyone here was when we got Brewster, Shugarts, and Adams. And with Pryor in the same class, it was just a matter if it was going to be one national title or multiple national titles.

This can't be right.

I refuse to believe that the O line coaching at Ohio State was this inept.

As a former middle school and high school position coach, we routinely went on two. It's a matter of practice. We jumped occasionally, but never to the point that we scrapped it.

And the head bob on film? If that's the case then the coaches were truly asleep at the wheel. From the position of your hands to the position of your feet, they have to be consistent every time. Any coach worth his salt is going to pick up on any tendencies like that. Especially with an extended time to get ready.

Unreal. Just unreal.

Shouldn't snap counts have been worked on in Spring ball when you have plenty of time to run the guys who jump?

.

Did you have JB Shugarts? He literally had false start penalties in 24 consecutive games. That's pretty astounding considering we went on "1" every single time.

With a competent OL Coach, yes. With what Ohio State has, no.
