Ok, so I'm not going to disagree with his performance...Brewster has had a really bad year. But I will say how much I absolutely feel for him. I know Mike personally and there just is not a truer Buckeye out there. What you see in the media and how much respect the other players have for him is what you truly get. Not once has he (on or off the field) tried to blame Bollman or any other coach, or his fellow seniors that put him in this situation for his final year, when that would be easy and quite frankly, it would be accurate. All Mike ever talked about is winning national championships, how much he couldn't wait for spring practice to start, etc. This guy lives for Saturday and had everything unraveled by the terrible decisions of others, all on his final year.
For the life of me, I have no idea what happened out there yesterday but I do know this: There is no other guy I would want out there leading my team, as beleaguered as it may be at this point. His legacy, in my eyes, will not be this attrocity of a situation that he has been thrown into. I will remember a player that fell in love with this university when he came to camp long ago, and thereafter gave his heart and soul into making this team the best they possibly could be. He was never involved with any of this off the field nonsense that put us in this mess, and has never been in any trouble in his 4 years here. He seems to have regressed and I'm not going to speculate why. All I will say is that it is NOT a lack of heart. I know nobody has implied the opposite, I just wanted to remind everyone of all that Mike has done for this university, all the while never complaining and giving his best effort. For his sake, here is to hoping we can pull out a win in Ann Arbor and send him off the best we possibly can at this point.
