BARTON DOESN'T WAIT
Kirk Barton loved his time in Chicago, but when the Bears released him last week, he didn't have long to wait to find a new team. Miami signed Barton off waivers, meaning the Dolphins have to put Barton on their active roster.
There's a big difference in pay from active roster to practice squad.
That doesn't mean Barton didn't lose some money in the deal. Three days before Chicago cut him, Barton put a security deposit and paid rent for an apartment in Chicago.
"I think I slept there two nights," Barton said.
The Bears first game was in Indianapolis, and the team left the day after Barton set himself up in an apartment.
"The good thing is I didn't buy any furniture," he said. "I was sleeping like a boy scout in there."
The Bears liked Barton and did him a favor. Chicago didn't release him until after 3 p.m. Monday, which means the team had to pay him a full game check for the second week of the season.
