Detroit News Blue Chip countdown: No. 3 Joshua Alabi

The Detroit News is counting down the top 15 players on its list of Blue Chip football recruits. Today: No. 3 Joshua Alabi of Detroit Cass Tech.

Detroit – Joshua Alabi developed into one of the best offensive linemen in Detroit Cass Tech history, helping Mike Weber rush for more than 2,000 yards.

Now it appears the two will be playing together again for the national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. But Alabi won't be blocking for Weber this time; he'll play defense for the Buckeyes.

"I was recruited by Ohio State to play defense tackle," said the 6-foot-5, 295-pound Alabi. "I like playing defense better. I like to hit people. I'm more comfortable at that position."

Alabi has been starting for Cass Tech since his sophomore year on defense, but started playing both ways his junior year.

Slightly off topic but;

They are 13 kids into a top 15 countdown of the best talent in the state up north and they haven't found a tsun commit yet.

5 for MSU
2 for Western M*ch*gan
1 for Central M*ch*gan
1 each for Minnesota, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Tennessee
1 for OSU and I have to assume at least 1 more to go

You can bet on Alex Malzone finishing No. 1 as he's already swept up pretty much every award in the state from last season. Still, very startling I would say for them to lack getting any in-state talent this year, although they've always been heavily dependent on out-of-state guys. Then again, look at their season last year & the recruiting class itself and it's not too surprising.

Perhaps they are leaving Malzone out since he is already enrolled. Still have Cole and Weber. Difficult to see either one not in the top 15.

Yea that list makes no send considering all 3 of those guys are in the top 5 for Michigan, let alone top 15.
