OL Jack Wohlabaugh (transfer to Duke Blue Devils)

Really like this offer and verbal...these kids that are hand picked by Warinner tend to have a high success rate and not just during Coach's days at OSU. Kid is mis-ranked by most sites as he projects as a center and I would have him behind only Drake Jackson at that position.
Recruiting is a bitch ...Jack good luck at Duke.

NCAA rules Ohio State football transfer can play immediately at Duke

DURHAM
Duke gained an unexpected addition to its offensive line on Wednesday when the NCAA ruled transfer Jack Wohlabaugh eligibility to play this season.

The 6-4, 300-pound Wohlabaugh began his career at Ohio State, where he didn’t appear in any games during the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He transferred to Duke last January and has three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Blue Devils.

NCAA rules stipulate that undergraduate players must sit out a season at their new school before becoming eligible to play. But Duke filed a waiver asking for Wohlabaugh’s immediate eligibility and it was granted.

The NCAA has shown in recent months it is open to making it easier for transfer players. It’s Transfer Working Group pushed through a new rule, approved last month, removing the previous requirement that athletes must seek permission from their current schools before letting other schools know they’d like to transfer.

On what basis?

Good for Jack, but like BuckeyeNation27 said..... How?

Does the NCAA now just get to pick and choose who has to sit a year and who gets to play right away without any rule or by-law in place?

I understand implementing the "no longer having to seek permission from current school to transfer to another school" rule change.... but that doesn't apply in this case and that's a slippery slope the NCAA is treading on this one.

It seems like they literally flip a coin for some of these decisions, there is no consistency at all.

Some reddit searching came up with a proposed rule that athletes with a certain (unknown) GPA who transfer will be allowed to play immediately at the new school. This is apparently what Duke was appealing....but I don't think that rule is official yet?

It sounds like they've been aiming towards that.....high enough GPA, no issues off the field, you get a one time transfer waiver. Wouldn't be a bad thing at all.
