OL Doug Datish (official thread)

datish, #50 hits the endzone off to the far right of the screen as ginn is on the 1. watch the replay again. ginn does in fact pass datish at the 30, datish then passes him at the 15 and holds his lead into the endzone .

scooter, seriously man. this is supposed to be humorous. you know, teddy ginn.. the fastest guy on the team beat in a 70 yrd sprint by a big fat slow lineman...? you'll note i left out the fact that he had to make two moves and break a tackle inside the 10... right? relax, we need some humor to get through this flippin penn state florida state game.

edit: bout friggin time penn state!!!

Everytime I think about Ginn blowing by him on the run, and Datish desperately pumpin his arms full speed tryin to keep up, i crack up so much.

roflmao!!! thats why i posted it. while i do think he hit the endzone before ginn, it really doesn't matter. good ol datish is giving it all he has, ginn blows past him like he isn't moving, but datish just keeps on a truckin. anytime a offensive lineman sprints 70+ yards just to throw a block you gotta toss him a bone... and some oxygen .

you know 30 years from now he'll be tellin his kids about the time he outsprinted the fastest man to every wear pads 70 yrds to the endzone. whether or not gps satellite imagery backs up the claim has little effect on it being a good story. :p

Taosman's wife on Ginn's TD run,"Get out of his way fatass!" :slappy:

What a great story in Datish.
A lot of people thought he was over rated and just a roll player, I did.
Now, the sky is the limit.
All Big Ten future.
Even All America!

I told my brother after the game that this play showed Ginn's speed on TV in a way that it normally can only be seen in person. Those of you who have been to games know what I mean. Ginn has that smooth, long stride that is deceptive. He looks so relaxed, that unless you're there, you have no idea how fast he's moving.

On this play though, you see him more or less by himself, then you see him passing Datish. It is this transition, where he seems to be gliding at one moment and rocketing past Datish the next, all while going the same speed, that you really appreciate his wheels. As I told my brother, I cannot run as fast as the DIFFERENCE in speed between Ginn and Datish. That was amazing.

well, you are right...you are "blissfully stupid"

And you sir are baiting fellow posters.

When I watched Datish running downfield, it reminded me of the way Orlando Pace used to get out there and flatten somebody. Doug has really made a statement in this game and I can't wait to see what he accomplishes next year.

if that comes to pass, then Datish is going to have to battle Rehring for the LG spot. They may, however, use Rehring as a backup for either tackle spot.
Has Spring ball started yet?!

Datish will start somewhere next year, he started this whole season. He will either be at LG or Center. Personally I don't know if Rehring can play Guard since he is so tall. I'd say alternate Rehring, Boone, and Barton at Tackle, Downing at RG, Datish at LG or Center, with Cordle, Mitchum, or Skinner playing the other position. Depth is a good thing. I can't wait to see the pre spring ball depth chart to see where the pups fit into the lineup. Right now there are only 7 guys on the whole OL depth chart with 3 of them graduating.

There have been numerous plays where Datish has gotten far downfield to make a block. While he may have seemed as slow as a snail in a tar pit, he does get to the second level to clear out defenders...

I FELT BAD FOR DATISH - HE IS RUNNING 70 YARDS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO HIT AND THEN AT A BLINK OF AN EYE GINN PASSES HIM AND HE STILL HAS NO ONE TO HIT -I LIKE THIS KID - HE HAS THAT MEAN STREAK THAT IS NEEDED TO PLAY O-LINE

That PF call on him was crap, as well.

Zbikowski hit someone (Ginn maybe ) late OB and they dropped the flag (it was blatant). On the same play they called a late hit on Datish for blocking someone who was still in bounds before the whistle. He didn't even block him hard, he just gave him a shove while he was still in bounds.

Taosman's wife on Ginn's TD run,"Get out of his way fatass!" :slappy:

datish at around the 30: "please oh lord deliver me someone to hit before i die!!!"

poor datish. we pick on him but that play really impressed the heck out of me. he's been playing very well as of late. id be surprised to see him not on the starting O-line somewhere next season.
