Oklahoma Sooners (official thread)

In all honesty, I hate to see him go. All "Big Game Bob" snarks aside, the guy was a helluva coach...and a Youngstown boy to boot.

18 Years:
190-48, .798
1 National Championship
10 Conference Championships
9-9 Bowl Record
2 Time Walter Camp Coach of the Year
6 Time Big 12 Coach of the Year

Coaching Tree includes 9 Coaches who went on to be head coaches: Mike Leach, Mark Mangino, Bo Pelini, Kevin Sumlin, Kevin Wilson, Lincoln Riley, Mike Stoops, Chuck Long, Jay Norvell

That's a helluva resume.

Just sayin': 56 is fairly young for a successful college football coach to retire. Especially when his current team is expected to compete for the National Championship and/or he isn't currently under NCAA investigation. Then again is Baker Mayfield about to be ruled ineligible?

However, those comments are from someone that retired at 55 thirteen years ago and has had zero regrets about the decision. I wish him a long and happy retirement.

Leaving football young to spend more time with his family... what a loser. Our coach would never do that!!!
