Okay, the Tribe Sucks, but How Bad

How Many Games Does The Tribe Lose, Does Shapiro Survive, Does Wedge Survive.

I don't watch Indians baseball, so i am just wondering who is worst, the players that are on the field or is it Wedge?
Both. I don't think anybody could win much with this pitching staff, but the situation is exacerbated by Wedge's comically bad handling of the team. He has no concept of baseball strategy. The most glaring example is a couple games back in may when he had Ryan Garko (a natural 1B) playing the outfield, where he looks like a monkey fucking a football, and Mark DeRosa (a decent OF) playing 1B. Garko proceeded to commit a couple of costly errors. He doesn't know when to use who to PH, and even with the "bullpen" as bad as it is, he makes it worse with how he uses them. Prime example, last week vs. the Chisox: With the bases loaded, he goes to the "bullpen" by bringing in Chris Perez, who had been having well documented control and confidence issues. Perez tosses two pitches in the dirt, then promptly serves up a meatball right down the center of the plate to Paul Konerko...grand slam. Wedge is a fucking neanderthal.

I'm not sure any manager could win with this pitching, a down year for Sizemore, and holes at several positions. If Wedge gets canned the people responsible for this roster sure as hell should go with him.
That's true, the team is very bad, but see above for how a bad situation is made worse by the shaved ape in the dugout. It's not just this year. Baby Gorilla is -23 vs his pythagorean record in his seven years. Just once has he been better than the pythagorean (in 2007 when almost every starter was tossing 6-7 innings a night), so basically, his teams have underachieved 6/7 years. One playoff appearance in 7 years that included a memorable choke job. His teams routinely sleep walk out of the gate. They are poor fundamentally. They are inconsistent. That is not the resume of a manager that should still be employed. He has a job because he's Shapiro's buddy. I agree that Shapiro needs to go too, but you have to start with the idiot in the dugout. I do believe Shapiro's GM days are over this fall. Rumors abound of him moving up to team president (yes, a promotion after this horse abortion of a season...only in Cleveland). Hopefully he lets the new GM run the team and bring a fresh approach, starting with better scouting because the Tribe's drafts have made the Browns look like the 70's Steeler's drafts.

Word. Managers and coaches account for only a handful of games worth of Ws and Ls over the course of the season barring a monumental screw-job with handling the pitching staff. They can't make mediocre players talented.

That said, I'd fire Wedge. Up 3-1 over the Red Sox in the '07 ALCS and then go on to lose the next three games by the combined score of 30-5. Hell of a motivational job he did there!
