The Buckeye finds an NFL home after going undrafted.
The New York Jets have signed halfback/wide receiver Jalin Marshall after he went undrafted. After a relatively short, yet successful, career at Ohio State, Marshall was a surprise addition to this year's draft class.
In his two seasons with the Buckeyes, Marshall recorded 976 yards for 12 touchdowns -- and another touchdown from a punt return. The young receiver holds himself to a high standard, and once spent an entire day fielding footballs in the snow following a game with a couple of drops.
A highly touted high school dual-threat quarterback, was transitioned to wide receiver when he got to Ohio State. He redshirted his freshman season in 2013, but found playing time during the 2014 national championship run -- scoring four touchdowns in one game against Indiana -- and finished the year with Freshman All-American honors.
Marshall had a good combine performance, where he ran a 4.60 40-yard dash and was a top performer in his position group in the 20-yard shuttle with 4.13 seconds. He wanted to prove that he didn't come out of college too soon, and spoke to the media at the combine about why he made the right decision, " belong in the NFL and can play among the best of the best."
While he might not get a chance to contribute to his new offense right away, he'll prove to be a solid special teamer, and with some coaching, find a longterm role.
