Lisa Hofbauer, a native of Birkfeld, Austria, will join the Ohio State women’s tennis team as a graduate transfer for the 2020-21 season, Buckeye head coach Melissa Schaub announced. Hofbauer comes to Ohio State after four years at East Carolina, where she received her bachelor’s degree in marketing/economics this spring.
“We are really excited to welcome Lisa to Buckeye Nation,” Schaub said. “She is bringing a ton of experience to our team as well as a very strong work ethic and leadership. We are excited to get started and I know that she is as well.”
Hofbauer played No. 1 singles for the Pirates the last two years. She was 10-7 overall in the shortened 2019-20 season, with an 8-3 dual match ledger. She won eight of her last nine matches, including her last five straight. She also played No. 1 doubles this past season and was 4-5 in dual matches and 9-9 overall. In 2018-19 Hofbauer earned AAC All-Conference accolades after posting a 17-12 singles record overall, with a 14-4 dual match mark, all on court one. She was 21-7 in doubles overall that season and was ranked as high as 49th in the ITA Rankings. She was 21-11 overall in singles in 2017-18, recording a 14-6 dual match ledger, and was 18-10 overall in doubles. As a freshman, Hofbauer has 16-16- in singles and 19-10 in doubles overall.
