Ohio State Women's Soccer (2026 B1G Champions)

The win over Notre Dame, who was ranked as the No. 2 overall team in the country and had lost just once all season before Thursday night, was Ohio State’s first-ever win over a team ranked in the top two nationally.

With its victory, Ohio State advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA women’s soccer tournament – where its season ended last year – for the second year in a row.

The Buckeyes, who are 10-4-6 on the season, will now face No. 5 seed Baylor in South Bend on Sunday. The game kicks off at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast by ESPN+.

Ohio State is the 2026 Big Ten women’s soccer champion.
The Buckeyes clinched this year’s title with a 3-0 win over Illinois at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Sunday.

Sunday’s win also set a school record for the most conference wins in a single season in Ohio State history as the Buckeyes improved to 10-1 on the year in Big Ten play.
With eight straight wins, Ohio State is now 14-1-1 on the season. The Buckeyes, who were ranked third nationally in the most recent Coaches Poll behind only Vanderbilt and North Carolina, will conclude their regular season with a road game at Michigan on Friday (7 p.m., B1G+). That said, the Buckeyes cannot be caught in the conference standings, as no other team in the conference will finish the regular season with more than nine wins.
Ohio State is now a three-time Big Ten champion in women’s soccer, previously winning the conference title in 2010 and 2017. Ohio State also won Big Ten Tournament titles in 2002, 2004 and 2012, and will be the No. 1 seed in this year’s Big Ten Tournament, which begins next week.
