The Ohio State University Women’s Volleyball team suffered its first loss in nearly one month. MSU delivered their triumph effort with the added treat of holding our Lady Buckeyes scoreless. MSU 3 OSU 0.

The Buckeyes now stand at 18-3. This coming Saturday they travel to Ann Arbor to face off with TTUN. Game time tips off at 7:00 p.m. which will be broadcast by BTN Plus.

The Buckeyes did have superb performances in this defeat. Special notice needs to be focused on the efforts of Taylor Hughes who on the Attack delivered a .750% and on Assists a .522%. Valeria Leon too needs a tip of the hat as she, on Assists, rose to an admirable .667%. Audra Appold was as we have grown to expect from her intense performances with a startling .900% on the serve. Taylor Hughes stepped up amazingly into the control arena as well on the serve with a .800%. Taylor Sandbothe stepped up on the serve with a .786%. Both Sandbothe and Elizabeth Campbell would have a block as well.

This loss certainly appears as an unneeded hurdle on the path to be the Big 10 Champions and the eventual placement in the NCAA Tournament. But lest we forget, so quickly too, this is the first loss of our Lady Buckeyes in nearly one month.

A defeat is a defeat. Never welcoming. But athletes worth their salt know that pouting over a defeat only offers an obstacle in the upcoming schedule. The pouting is left up to us – the fans – the armchairs. A defeat is, in fact, an opportunity to gather the forces, circle the wagons, and prepare one’s self for the sweetness of the next victory. These women have the strength, the desire, and certainly the salt to pursue the next victory. Come this weekend I wish I could say I pity TTUN. But I don’t. I look forward to witnessing the crushing they shall endure at the hands of The Ohio State University’s Women’s Volleyball Team.

With names such as Appold, Sandbothe, Campbell, Hughes & Leon – how in the world can I think otherwise?

Look for something special come Saturday. The season will march on no matter what happens. But the victories will continue to add up – all the way until the season’s conclusion on 11/28/15 vs. Rutgers in Columbus.
