The Nation’s # 11 Team, The Ohio State University’s Women’s Volleyball Team began the second half of the BIG play with an “unneeded” loss to #3 Penn State in Columbus – 3-0.

It is now their fourth loss of the season overall – but what becomes a concern is it is now their third in Conference play. They now drop in the Conference loss column: Minnesota has 2 losses in BIG, Penn State remains with 2 losses, and now Purdue moves above the Buckeyes with 2 losses.

An opportunity though does exist. Our Lady Buckeyes will travel to Penn State on Fri. Oct. 30th for a scheduled rematch at 7:00 pm.

The action went down as such:

Penn State’s Lady Nittany Lions began on the opening serve by overwhelming the Buckeyes with eight consecutive tallies. This shot them to an 8-1 advantage. The Buckeyes though fought from an 11-point deficit at 13-2 and barreled within 3-points at 18-15 with a 13-5 run.
That would be it. The Nittany Lions took the first set 25-18.

The 2nd set began with a commanding flurry of back-to-back kills from Elizabeth Campbell and Audra Appold for the Buckeyes. With consecutive blocks the Buckeyes pushed ahead 8-5. Penn State maneuvered and sustained a retaliatory movement with 5-in-a-row blocks. Penn State would take the set 25-15.

Elizabeth Campbell would have six kills in the 3rd set. But the Nittany Lions seemingly created enough chaos to deem this accomplish nearly unnoticed. They would pull away 9-4 – finalizing the set 25-17.

The entire squad – all 14 – saw action this evening. Elizabeth Campbell delivered 8 digs to compliment her 9 kills, with an ace and a block. Tyler Richardson brought in 5 kills and had a pair of block assists. And Valeria León had a match high 11 digs.

This was a setback indeed – but by no means devastation. Nine matches remain in the season – all of which can and will determine the Lady Buckeyes future. It begins this coming Friday, Oct. 30th for a rematch against Penn State in their territory. Pull up a seat at 7:00 pm. Flip to BTU Plus and cheer them on.

See You There. Go Buckeyes.
