This past Saturday Ohio State debuted the long awaited and talked about Black Uniforms. Also asking fans to Black out the Shoe. There were mixed reviews about the jerseys, some loved them, some hated them, some were just OK with them. Well, I’m here to tell you what I liked and didn’t like about the jerseys.
Here is what I liked, OK, loved. I did love the jerseys themselves. Let me first say that I’m a traditionalist. I don’t like change, I don’t like to break from tradition. Ohio State is one of the most traditional programs there is in America. However, I loved the black jerseys with the scarlet numbers. Those things looked beautiful to me. Now, I was watching on TV. I heard a lot of fans at the game said it was very hard to see the numbers. Well, on HD they popped right out. I also liked the pants, the black pants with the scarlet stripe down the side. I thought that worked. I had no problem with it. The shoes and gloves as well. They looked great on TV. There were some who said white numbers would’ve worked better, but I disagree, I think the scarlet numbers were great.
Now, I totally get the other side. There are a great many Buckeye fans and supporters who hated the black jerseys. I get that, I understand why. The biggest complaint was that it went against tradition. I already confessed to being a traditionalist. I understand not wanting to change one of the iconic uniforms in college football, I totally get it. This is THE Ohio State University, we don’t need gimmicks, we don’t need special jerseys, we don’t need to be like Oregon. Trust me, I get you, and 99% of the time I’d agree with you. However, when you think something looks good, hey, it looks good. The jerseys, they looked good.
Now those helmets. No, no, no, no, no! Did like them? NO. Those big black things looked bad, ugly, sorry, have to be honest. I didn’t like the helmets at all. The scarlet Buckeye leaves were cool, I’ll say that. You could’ve had the facemask scarlet as well, that would’ve been better too. Overall, I didn’t care for the black helmets, just way too much black. I got an idea though, a silver chrome helmet to go along with those black jerseys. Oh man, that would be sweet! You can keep the scarlet stickers and put them on the chrome helmet. I thought that would go a lot better with the black jerseys, but that’s just my opinion.
The jury was split on social media, some Ohio State fans loved the jerseys.

I like every "black" jersey in college football except Tennessee and now Ohio State. Those are awful.
