The Buckeyes are back in primetime in another top-10 showdown.
Though it comes as little surprise that the Ohio State Buckeyes did not make the top-four if the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings of 2016, the release of the rankings is timely ahead of yet another primetime matchup versus a ranked opponent for the Buckeyes. Urban Meyer is 14-3 against ranked opponents at Ohio State, and this could be a great opportunity for the Buckeyes to notch yet another signature win to add to their Playoff resume.
Meanwhile, Nebraska is also coming off such a primetime matchup, having just lost to Wisconsin by six in Madison. Prior to the loss, the Huskers had notched their longest winning streak in 15 years at eight wins, but they are now heading into the second week-straight of a tough road matchup. While they still control their destiny in the Big Ten West, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern and Minnesota are all just one game back.
This matchup marks just the fourth time that these two storied programs have played one another, and just the third in-conference in the Big Ten. Ohio State holds a 3-1 edge over Nebraska, having most recently defeated the Huskers 63-38 in Meyer’s first season with the Buckeyes.
