Ohio State vs. Maryland, Friday, January 18 @ 630 pm, FS1

More fouls wouldn't matter in this game, but my goodness we don't get fair treatment at home like the others. Bob Knight would've thrown a chair by now. And if nobody on this team can shoot, then why not let Ahrens and Washington play more. Ahrens can stroke it from 3. Needs a chance to warm up. He misses one shot, and Holtmann pulls him. Johnny Diebler wasn't always hot to begin with either. Andre Wesson and Keyshawn Woods bring very, very little.

TBH, I feel you probably should go to the NIT when your starters include CJ Jackson, Keyshawn Woods, Andre Wesson and Kyle Young. Those guys are all coming off the bench in an ideal situation.

Too much over helping and too little recovery to guard shooters. Way too many forced shots. No rhythm or flow offensively. Lots of bad passes that get deflected or stolen. This program needs an upgrade in a number of areas, including perimeter quickness, length in the frontcourt, shot-creating skill, having guys that make open shots, and even just making smart decisions with the ball.

I have been skeptical of this team all season, and when it became apparent how good the B1G was, I had a suspicion we'd get chewed up. But for whatever reason I thought we'd grind this one out tonight. Maryland was simply better than us in every facet of the game, and I think there's probably a handful of other B1G teams we could say the same about, the Michigan teams definitely.

We've been spoiled in that it has been a long time since we've seen a Buckeye team with a distinct talent disadvantage against the whole top half of our conference (Thad's last couple years weren't so much the talent as the culture and effort level). Well, we are seeing it now. On paper this is the least talented OSU squad in ages and it's showing now that we're actually playing legit competition. It's also our misfortune that our really down talent year is aligning with the strongest B1G in quite a while.

I do think that in the long run a NIT bid--if we can manage that--might be more beneficial for this team and it's probably the most that they're gonna deserve by the time the B1G brutality ceases.

There were a lot of bad plays this game for OSU. Some difficult to watch stuff. One that really stuck out to me is the possession MD had a guard drive the ball in the paint and stop, with just 3 seconds to go in the shot clock, Woods turns his back to the ball and isnt guarding the driver but is still an inexplicably long distance from covering his man beyond the arc, Terp player is waiting in the corner and gets a kick out for an easy 3 to beat the shot clock. It's one thing to get caught watching the ball, it's another to have your back to the ball and still be so far off your man to give up an uncontested 3. And there was also that possession where Woods completely left his man beyond the arc to guard nobody in particular in the paint and MD got another wide open 3. Woods needs to figure out how to guard or sit the bench.

I hate to say it because Woods was helping us win games in the non-con, but aside from the Illinois game he has been anything but a positive in B1G play. Right now playing him is just taking away developmental PT for guys like Washington and Ahrens. He should still be in the rotation on the off-chance he has a good game but at this point I want more minutes for Washington, even if Washington is gonna struggle.
