Ohio State vs. Marshall, 2004

I thought that Marshall fans showed a big amount of class on Saturday. They should be proud of the way the Herd bounced back from the Troy St. loss, and nearly beat us. There is nothing better than watching a game where a team plays their hearts out, Marshall did just that.

It's just my opinion and if don't like it, too bad, don't respond. Unlike some of the other hypocritical posters who called Marshall fans inbred toothless hicks before the game, only to be 'surprised' that they weren't...I did none of that, so therefore I did not gain or lose respect for them.
So the fact that handled defeat with dignity and supported their team like great fans didn't improve your image of them in the least? You're a hard sell.

Let's not read too much into this. It's not an insult to Marshall, I respected them and their fans before AND after the game. So therefore my opinon of them didn't change. I don't see why this so hard to understand.

3yards, not on this thread, but there are countless others before the game that insulted Marshall fans and their university to no end. My point is that many of the same folks who participated in those deragatory remarks, are the same folks who are now praising them and their behavior after a tough game. I guess it comes down to which is more insulting, somebody telling you that they didn't think you were white trash before the game, or somebody who did indeed think of them as white trash, only to later expose their own ignorance and realize that they are just like us, loyal, diehard fans that love their university and football team. Personally, I think the latter is worse. But that's just me.

Well, I think if you would have stated your respect for Marshall before and after the game in your first post we would have avoided several, now seemingly, pointless posts. Further, I think if everyone understood your remarks to be a slight intended towards those biased and hypocritical fans, you would have seen agreement with your comments. Miscommunication I guess.

Indeed, there are those who generalize and make stupid or silly remarks. Smack talk and such abound. Which is worse would follow personal preferences I think. In either event, it's good to see attitudes can change from experience. If biases and hypocrisy are altered by the experiences shared, then I count this as a positive. While I don't totally discount or absolve the previous views of a few, I am happy that those views could, can and have changed in many instances. I guess you can hold on to anger about past "wrongs" or be happy about present and future "rights".

I any event, I would like to congratulate the Marshall team and fans for an enjoyable Saturday. (toothless inbred hicks included  )

It is good to hear that oppenent fans enjoyed their game here at the Shoe...may be not the result ;-) I remeber watching the NC ST game last year from the South Stand, and a few of their fans were very rude. They seemed to want to get in a fight; in fact the police came up and escorted a few fans away...including Buckeye fans. I hope we treat others with respect as we would like to be treated. By the way, toothless inbred are found everywhere in Ohio...just ask Tbor ;-)

I personally was only angry at the Marshall fan who just "assumed" they were going to win and looking ahead to Georgia, but of course this was just a few morons posting on a message board, and every school has them. I'm glad everything went well for those who went, and it was obvious they had a lot of guts on Saturday and played their butts off. Kudos to a fine college football contest...one of the things that makes life worth living
