Ohio State vs #19 Texas, Monday, Nov 4, 2024 @ 10 PM ET, in Las Vegas, TNT

14/28 50% from the three, Mobley was 4 for 4. Damn, if they can shoot like that all season long.....:boogie:

I did think 5 star transfers Stewart & Bradshaw would do better than 2 points and 4 fouls each.
Well, they were both very foul-prone last season. I thought maybe Diebler had some strategy for coaching that out of them - obviously that didn't happen in the offseason, so hopefully they will grow in those areas during the season.

Great W to start the season!! Good shooting, some outstanding games from newbies, and a big step up from Soph Devin Royal is encouraging. Clearly they also showed some areas where they need to improve & can get better. Obviously Texas was without Mark who is going to be a big player for them, but they should have an excellent season so this is big in a lot of ways.

Buckeyes Open Jake Diebler Era With Statement Win Over No. 19 Texas, 80-72

Forget growing pains, Jake Diebler's first Ohio State basketball squad started its season with some grown-man hooping on Monday night.

Flexing the energy Diebler advertised on both ends of the floor, the Buckeyes took down No. 19 Texas in a neutral-site game as part of the Hall of Fame Series, never trailing in an 80-72 victory.

Veteran guards Bruce Thornton and Micah Parrish paced the Buckeyes with 20 and 17 points, with sophomore forward Devin Royal following closely behind at 16.

Freshman John Mobley Jr. was the revelation of the evening for Ohio State, scoring 14 points in Las Vegas, where he spent multiple high school basketball seasons playing for Bishop Gorman. The four-star prospect lived up to his nickname of "the Sniper," going 4-for-4 from downtown.

The Buckeyes as a team took a perimeter-centric approach on offense, going 14-of-28 beyond the arc.

Freshman Tre Johnson led the way for the Longhorns, racking up 29 points.
