Boy, I sure don't know about all that red and white in those old-school uniforms. We sure do look like Wisconsin....

As far as I know the 1955 jersey had different sleeve stripes than the other years. At least a picture I have of Hop vs Illinois shows 3 white sleeves and not the traditional gray ones that I really wish they still used.

Oh yea, i've saw that one. It was in one of the programs this past season. In the back of the programs are posters, and it was either this past season or last season that had that poster.

"The better you feel you look, the better you'll play," said Michigan State running back Javon Ringer. "That's true for a lot of players. The way a uniform looks can really change somebody's outlook on a team."
That's why the companies that design college football uniforms work on prototypes year-round, and why discussions about stripes and color palettes typically involve coaches, athletic directors and even university presidents.
"It's the No. 1 conversation we have," said Walker Jones, the director of college sports marketing for Under Armour, which outfits 11 Division I-A teams, including Auburn, Texas Tech and Utah. "Once we get past the initial dollar figures, they turn to us and say, 'Tell us about the uniforms. How are you going to differentiate from our competitors?'"
That's because a football uniform is often one of the most identifiable symbols for a university -- for fans, alumni and the next great player watching at home thinking, "That I like."

It's basically the jerseys from 04 with black numbers overlapping the stripes.

Great pics, but I'm here to certify that the white helmet was gone by 53. from 53 to 58 or 59 the helmet was a dove gray with a scarlet stripe. They went to a blocky looking helmet in 58 or 59 - The Tom Matte, Bob Ferguson years and stuck with that helmet until 64 or 65 when they introduced both the older style and the new Riddle with the same foam pad and wide stripe, then went to a gray helmet with the stripes they still use today in 68. The silver came about over a period of two or three years with some helmets still in gray and some in silver.

Hello Mr. Smith,


I am writing to you in regard to the image of "throwback" uniforms I saw today supposedly being considered for the UM game no less.

These uniforms squander the OSU brand to a high degree. The purposed uniform is much more XFL than OSU in appearance.

These uniforms don't read "throwback" AT ALL, they read like a poorly executed marketing campaign.

This is a big mistake that can be averted with everyone saving face if this decision is reversed soon...our fans are passionate and we listened etc.

Please revise the look to fit the brand of my beloved Ohio State University.

Bumping this thread as I need some help with helmet colors from 1930-1934, when we ironically had winged helmets. Can anybody help me? Is the winged part white or gray? Is the rest of the helmet scarlet? Thanks in advance for any help. Trying to get a replica made for my Dad and I honestly don't know the true colors since I've only seen black and white photos.
