Why would you shoot at a state trooper?
<!-- --> WASHINGTON C.H., Ohio -- A highway patrolman shot and killed a man who fired at him early Sunday after being stopped on suspicion of drunken driving.

Errol T. Baker II, 26, of Jeffersonville, died after the traffic stop on state Route 753, south of U.S. 35 in Fayette County.

Trooper James Cress of the Wilmington post stopped Baker around 2 a.m. and asked him to get out of the vehicle for sobriety tests. Baker got out and then struggled with Cress, according to a release from the patrol.

<!-- -->Baker shot at Cress with a handgun, missing him. Cress then fired his weapon and hit Baker in the upper body.

Baker was taken to Fayette County Memorial Hospital and later flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, about 40 miles northeast.Cress received minor injuries in the scuffle, patrol Lt. Shawn Davis said.

if this sort of thing didn't happen so often it would make for a good entry in the darwin awards.

Teddy, maybe when you're older we'll explain to you what alcohol is.
I've been as drunk as anybody...and i've never shot a cop. Alcohol is NOT AN EXCUSE at shooting at a cop. I don't care how drunk you are...you DO have to be ONE STUPID IDIOT to shoot at a cop.

People like this deserve to be shot. This pisses me off.

Stopping someone for drunken driving at 2am is no picnic because there is always the chance one of these guys is who you're stopping. It is easy to forget the courage these troopers show day in and out. This time at least the good guy won!

You never know what your getting into... a few weeks my friend that's a Deputy Sheriff had someone take off on him and the ended up in a high speed chase... all because he wanted to see if he could get away so he didn't get a ticket for going 19 over the speed limit. The guy end up slamming into a car with a woman and her small children... no one was hurt except that asshole driver. I guess he was surprised that instead of helping him out of his car my friend stuck his gun in his face, dragged him out of the car and cuffed him (that's putting mildly). To top it off he was a 19 year old kid who was going to a tech school and wanted to be cop.
