Urban Meyer's turning to an old friend to help make Ohio State's offense better.
Per Football Scoop, Ohio State is expected to hire former Urban Meyer offensive coordinator (late of Maryland and LSU) Greg Studrawa to be the Buckeyes' new offensive line coach. Though current line coach Ed Warinner had done widely praised work with the 2012-2014 offensive lines, Warinner was promoted to Ohio State's offensive coordinator after Tom Herman left last offseason, leaving some to speculate throughout the 2015 season that perhaps he had coals in too many fires.
If you'd ask Ohio State fans a week before the Michigan game if the Buckeyes needed major offensive restructuring amongst the coaching ranks, you would've gotten a universal yes. That sentiment died down after consecutively dominant offensive performances -- in no small part the result of moving Warinner up to the coaches booth from the sidelines -- and there were early offseason sentiments that the Buckeyes coaching staff would mostly stay static. That obviously changed with tonight's report.
Perhaps most interestingly, in Football Scoop's reporting, they state that there are "staff restructuring coming" for the Buckeyes. Whether that's merely Warinner giving up his line coaching duties or additional churn, we'll have to stay tuned.
