Ohio State claimed the final spot in the 2014 Collegiate Rugby Championship, winning the Big Ten 7s Saturday in Columbus, Ind. The Buckeyes went 5-0 on the day, beating Iowa 29-12 in the final.
The Hawkeyes actually led Ohio State 12-10 at halftime of the championship game, but as they did most of the day, the Buckeyes proved to be the better team in the second half. The game was a rematch of a 24-19 pool win for Ohio State.
Iowa had to go through Indiana, which dominated its pool, to reach the final. Ohio State beat Purdue 19-7 in its quarterfinal and Wisconsin 24-7 in the semifinals.
Leading the Buckeyes was a pair of 15s loose forwards - Santino Cua and Danny Nolan. Both are tough to bring down and big in the set piece. They combined for 11 tries prior to the final.
