Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets - Top 2017 DB has OSU as his leader

Ohio State continues to dominate on the recruiting trail as the 2017 class still tops out as the nation's best class.
This week has been a whirlwind for the Ohio State coaching staff. Besides preparing for the Big Ten conference opener versus the Indiana Hoosiers, the staff has sent out multiple new scholarship offers to more of the nation's top prospects. As usual, when you're a Buckeye fan, there's rarely a down day. Thursday was much of the same as the top safety in the 2017 class made it clear that the Buckeyes are in the driver's seat for his services.
OSU leads the way for Okudah
It's no secret. Ohio State's current 2017 class commit list is absolutely loaded. With ten commits right now, it leads the nation and appears to never look back. One area of total strength seen in the 2017 class is the defensive backfield. Ohio State currently has pledges from Shaun Wade, Marcus Williamson, Isaiah Pryor, and Bruce Judson who will all most likely line up on the defensive side of the ball once they reach Columbus. Obviously, talent is rich within the Buckeyes' future.
Yesterday, the momentum for the Buckeyes' 2017 class may have continued as the top safety prospect in the nation, Jeffrey Okudah, named Ohio State as his leader in the recruiting process. As mentioned earlier, Ohio State already has the number two overall prospect at the safety position with Isaiah Pryor's commitment, but now it seems as if the Buckeyes have a real shot at not only the second best safety prospect, but also the nation's top safety. Okudah, a 6'2, 195-pound safety, hails from Grand Prairie, Texas and attends South Grand Prairie High School. With offers from basically any and every school in the country, the top safety prospect and second best prospect from the state of Texas in 2017 has a long way to go in his recruitment, but naming Ohio State as his leader this early in the process definitely spells out good things for Urban Meyer and his staff. Currently, the 247sports crystal ball predictions have a leader of Baylor University, but Ohio State and Jeffrey seem to think otherwise.

OSU makes the cut for Wilson
Yesterday, per his Twitter account, the top outside linebacker prospect in the class of 2016, Lyndell Wilson, placed Ohio State in his top eight schools. The top ranked player in the state of Alabama and the top player at his position according to 247sports is listed at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds. With every tool necessary to succeed at the next level of play, Wilson is coveted by just about every school in the country with a football program. All things point toward Alabama as of now on the 247sports crystal ball prediction, but as stated time and time again, with Urban Meyer at the helm of things, anything is possible. Look for Ohio State to pursue Wilson as they have handed out two offers to other linebacker prospects in the 2016 class in hopes to round out the class with one more linebacker beside current 2016 commit Tuf Borland.
Wayne Davis goes off
In sticking with the defensive side of the ball trend, current 2016 Ohio State commit Wayne Davis, of Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Virginia had himself quite the night last night. He was stellar at his position as he produced not one, but two interceptions that he also returned for touchdowns. It's more than safe to say Ohio State knows exactly what they are getting with Davis's services. The future is bright in Columbus.
