Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets - Fred Hansard, other prospects head north for OSU-UM

In the midst of The Game and Thanksgiving, nothing can stop Ohio State on the recruiting front.
As we approach The Game, things yesterday as far as recruiting goes were slower than usual. That's expected with the Thanksgiving holiday, but rest assured, Ohio State and staff remain steady at work. With the recent de-commitment from LSU, Ohio State regained the lead this week for the top ranked 2016 recruiting class. With signing day in the upcoming months, Ohio State and staff will look to keep the momentum on their side to round out another top national class.
The Game Visitors
The greatest rivalry in college football will be taking place once again tomorrow and that means many of the country's top prospects will be headed to Ann Arbor, Michigan to watch the first ever battle between Ohio State's Urban Meyer and new Michigan coach, Jim Harbaugh. With nearly everything on the line tomorrow, many prospects in attendance are not only there because they are actively being recruited by "the team up north", but Ohio State as well. With Ohio State being the visiting school, a win in Ann Arbor would also be a chance to impress recruits in attendance.
Hansard, Malone-Hatcher head to UM
One of the prospects that is being recruited by both Michigan and Ohio State that will be in attendance for tomorrow's game is 2017 DT prospect, Fred Hansard of New Jersey. It's no secret Ohio State has a tremendous need at the defensive tackle position and one prospect that would love to add in the 2017 class is Hansard. Currently ranked as the second best prospect at any position in New Jersey, Fred is also the seventh best at his position in the country according to 247sports. The 6'3, 305-pound prospect will be visiting for Michigan, but it's also another chance for Fred to see Ohio State in action. 247sports crystal ball predictions have Hansard headed to the home team Scarlet Knights of Rutgers, but there's more than enough time for Ohio State and others to impress and be in the race to land Hansard.
Also in attendance for tomorrow's match-up with be St. Joe, Michigan prospect Corey Malone-Hatcher. Malone-Hatcher, who was in attendance last week for Ohio State and Michigan State will get to see the Buckeyes in action two weeks in a row. The fourth overall prospect in the state of Michigan for the 2017 class is also the eighth best player at his defensive end position according to 247sports.
Thoughts on Hayes
Staying in the state of Michigan, Ann Arbor product Daelin Hayes has been a hot topic as of late for Ohio State. Daelin, the one time USC commit, has been in Columbus quite a bit recently. Last weekend, Daelin visited the Buckeyes for the second time in three weeks as he took in the game versus Michigan State.
This weekend however, Daelin will see the Spartans in East Lansing as one of his final visits before he makes his decision. Hayes has long lasting relationships with the Spartans as a Michigan resident, but Ohio State has to feel good about their chances with Hayes as their relationship has really grown in just a short amount of time. With his final three of Ohio State, Michigan State, and Notre Dame, Hayes will have a lot of reflecting to do before he goes public with his college choice. One thing's for sure, whichever school he chooses will be fortunate enough to get him on campus early as he made it known via his twitter that his high school days were coming to a close.
