Will Urban Meyer reel in the son of a former Buckeye for the 2017 recruiting class?

OSU legacy offered

On Wednesday, it was '17 safety Brendon White who was the recipient of an Ohio State offer. White is the son of former Buckeye William White, also a safety, who went on the play for the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta Falcons in his 11-year NFL career.

"My coach pulled me out of class and told me I had to call Coach (Urban) Meyer," White said. "He and the Principal had a huge smile on their face and I busted out in tears of happiness." During the conversation, White said he discussed what it means to be a Buckeye with the head coach and how Meyer told him he earned the offer with how well he has been playing this season.

Prior to the offer yesterday, Ohio State was the unanimous favorite to land the 6'2, 195-pounder and those predictions continued to roll in once the offer did. The Buckeyes joined Boston College, Illinois, Kentucky, Marshall, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Toledo as programs to give White a collegiate opportunity. While it seems that the Fighting Irish and Spartans stand in a respectable spot with White for the time being, I don't expect the Olentangy Liberty (OH) athlete to wind up anywhere else but in Scarlet and Gray.

White is currently graded as a three-star prospect in the 2017 class and sits at No. 312 overall for next year's recruiting cycle. While being primarily listed as a safety, White has the versatility and skill set that could possibly lead him to linebacker or even wide receiver at the next level. White said Meyer brought up two players -- Darron Lee and Michael Thomas-- in regards to how and where he could be used in Columbus. The Powell native is also ranked as the 13th-best Ohio prospect and the 22nd-best safety in his class.

Bucks watch Gordon

According to Prep Hoops Missouri, Ohio State was in to check out '18 PF Carte'Are Gordon of St. John Vianney (MO) on Wednesday. Despite his senior year being a few years away, Gordon already has the attention of major collegiate programs across the country. The 6'8, 235-pounder also has a few offers under his belt already and those come from Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, St. Louis, and in-conference foes Illinois and Purdue.
