The Buckeye quarterback room will have one less member starting next season.
In order to make all of the scholarship numbers work for the incoming class of 2017, there’s going to be some more attrition with Ohio State’s roster. And now, it appears one more spot has opened up, and in the most important position room on the team, the quarterbacks.
Stephen Collier, in an interview with Land of 10, says that he is ending his playing career, and will be “contributing to the program in a behind-the-scenes role”, rather than on the field.
Collier, a member of the 2014 recruiting class, tore his ACL last spring and missed the season.
A former three-star recruit from Leesburg, Georgia, Collier was a late addition to the Buckeyes, choosing Ohio State over Cincinnati and Boston College. He was never able to pass up any of Ohio State’s more celebrated recruits on the depth chart, and with his injury history, and how crowded the quarterbacks room is now, playing time looked increasingly unlikely.
The interview makes it clear that Collier absolutely loves Ohio State, and will remain on campus to pursue his Masters degree. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
