Ohio State @ Pittsburgh, Friday, Nov. 28, 7 PM, ESPN2

Diebler is recruiting very well but I think he really is a bad in game coach and motivator. Part of the offensive glass problem is guys are just so slow to the ball a lot of the time it seems like a lazy play type thing rather than being out athleted

Tully definitely plays smaller than his size. On one of those late offensive rebounds, it was a missed three an Tully is turning to block someone out near the 3 point line instead of going g after the ball.
I think that was kind of a problem for more than him. Bruce was running after loose balls hard, but I don't know that many guys on the team were really getting after it. 16 offensive rebounds for Pitt is embarrassing considering they were more hustle rebounds and beating OSU to the ball than anything.

Also, every arena should have the same rim tightness. Nobody is gonna convince me that everyone’s rims are the same. Every damn shot they took from 15 feet or farther that was missed literally bounced 10 feet off the rim. It is very difficult to grab rebounds when that happens. Pitt got every loose ball out of bounds also. There were at least 3 questionable ones in the last 5 minutes alone that could’ve easily been called our ball.
One thing for sure that could have helped OSU is there were a couple plays when the Buckeyes got a hand on the rebound, but they couldn't control it and let it get to Pitt (either out of bounds or live). Teach guys to tap the ball out to teammates if you're losing it.

Yep at some point it's at least somewhat on the coaches. Getting murdered on the glass by a Pitt team that was basically only playing 6 players all game is just not acceptable
Overall the rebound battle was 39-38, that's not really getting murdered on the glass. The problem was Pitt getting too many offensive rebounds & second chances. A lot of them were more hustle rebounds and getting beat to loose balls, which is why I thought Colin White should have been playing more.

That's my point. Since the Holtmann era we seem to lose the hustle plays way more often than we win them. It's just a stink that keeps hovering over the program. Diebler is recruiting really well so at this point you don't dump him but if these things keep up with the players he's bringing in going forward than a real discussion needs to be had

Diebler may be recruiting well but it won’t matter if they make the transition to good college players. He is embarrassingly out of his league. I was in favor of hiring him but it was clearly a mistake. Bjork needs to make the tough decision after the season. OSU should be a tourney team 3 out of 4 seasons

Yes I think it's obvious he's in over his head when it comes to actually coaching the game at this level. "The players love him" can only take you so far when it comes to actual production. It's hard to be confident in the future even with good recruiting results

I do know Thad Matta believed in guarding the in-bounds pass in late-game situations, and it was very rare that OSU lost with a late lead under Matta. As soon as Holtmann came in, the late-game philosophy backfired and OSU has constantly lost games in spite of late leads. The officiating definitely hurt OSU down the stretch in this game, but that being said, it was a big mistake to not guard the in-bounds pass with 3.9 seconds left. Make them take extra time off the clock having to catch the ball in the backcourt, or else throw long.

This game shoulda never even been close is the major problem. Pitt is a bad team and could barely field a 7 man rotation for this game. Letting a team like that hang around till the end exposes you to the chance of a guy who couldn't hit water from a boat all night draining a shot at the buzzer

We lose games like this way more than we win them which doesn't help the case of Diebler just being an extension of Holtmann
