Game Thread Ohio State @ Penn State - 09/29/18, 7:30PM (ABC)

I'm gonna go out on a limb against the talking heads... I'm not an X's and O's guy, but rewatch that 4th-and-1 play. It actually wasn't a bad call, straight-up.

Think about it... PSU was prepared to gamble that we couldn't stop them at the line. Not a bad gamble given that we hadn't been able to do consistently all game. What's impressive is that we anticipated that call and gave Young the assignment to shoot the A-gap.
Are you talking about psu's final play? The 4th and 5?

Had to leave in the 2nd qtr for a standby call, didn’t get to catch any of the rest on tv but listened on the radio when I got a chance.

McSorely played one hell of a game, glad he will be gone.

Defense played horrible but luckily came up when needed and I will never count out our defense on a last drive situation, they seem to gain these powers and be disruptive on a final drive. A TON of work needs done and we really miss Bosa.

Offense was non existent but that turnover changed the momentum and luckily we capitalized.

Haskins has a heisman moment on that 96 hard drive, very few QB’s who could do that against the way PSU defense played all game and credit to the rest of the offense for stepping up.

Chrisman did his job well and I said we would need him and turns out he was a key performance.

Great job by Dixon to chase down that pick could have been a TD and momentum killer.

I said earlier in the first half we would see what this team was made of facing adversity and great teams find ways to win. Didn’t look like a top 4 team for most the game but they pulled through and I couldn’t be happier for them guys.

That's some serious warning-track power right there.

I'm not so sure it was a bad call as much as a bad read. You have to imagine that was an RPO, and with 3 seconds left on the play clock, the read was to hand it to the RB. Then our LBs did an insane shift, Chase stunted, and I collapsed into tears. I would love for somebody who knows Xs and Os to diagram what their OLine saw when those players went into that shift.....because to me that was next level.

Right...

I don't know how insanely gifted you'd have to be to read and process and correctly react to all of those shifts and stunts in a blink. That's why Sanders got stuffed.

But, from PSU's perspective, it was smart to gamble that our defense wouldn't suddenly uncork "next level". If I was Franklin, I'd probably woulda told my guys to just run up the gut. "Haven't stopped us up to now..."
