Backers being targeted in coverage is an issue. Safeties over top of the #2 vertical has been an issue, especially with Bosa out.
The Oline being suddenly spotty is an issue. Starting slow and ignoring your RB's at critical times has been a re-occurring issue for 3 years now.
Going away from things that work has been/is an issue. Using too many empty sets and failing to incorporate motion and/or misdirection to help the Oline has been an issue.
I could go on and on but it boils down to what I said earlier. ANY offensive philosophy that doesn't include having your team ( at a D1 level mind you) able to line up and sneak the ball a foot, needs serious re-evaluation.
I haven't played a game in 2 years. But hand to Christ, I can give you my vow right now, I could get my Oline and QB together right this moment at 11pm and run a quick count sneak for a football length against a lot of human beings.
Why? Fundamentals. It's a staple football play that has been throughout the years. On top of that, for the analytics crowd, it's a pretty high percentage conversion play on 3rd and 4th downs. Why we refuse to run it and/or cannot run it is beyond my understanding.
