The Buckeyes played host to one of the top wideouts in the 2027 class this past Saturday, and he left with an official scholarship offer.

Ohio State is now 3-0 after a 49-14 victory over Marshall. Ohio State’s defense allowed its first touchdowns of the season, but the talk after the game featured the Buckeyes impressive running back duo.

Led by Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State’s offense looked more impressive than maybe any game in the last two seasons. It was another impressive showing for the Buckeyes as they put on a show for Buckeye Nation.

The fans were not alone in Ohio Stadium, as the Buckeyes also played host to a handful of recruits. One of those recruits on an unofficial visit was 2027 four-star wide receiver Myles McAfee (Washington, DC / Archbishop Spalding).

McAfee is one of the top wideouts in the 2027 class and he is already building up an impressive offer sheet. The blue-chip receiver already holds offers from Penn State, Boston College, Charlotte, East Carolina, Indiana, Maryland, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

However, he can add a new name to that list, as he received an official scholarship offer from the Buckeyes following his visit.

It is no secret that Ohio State is one of the best college football programs at recruiting and developing wide receivers, in large part because of Brian Hartline. As a result, Ohio State is usually in the running for top recruits at the position that they are interested in. That being said, the Buckeyes have some work to do as this was just the first time they have been able to get McAfee on campus.

While it is still early in McAfee’s recruitment, he has already taken multiple visits to Penn State, making the Nittany Lions the early favorites. However, if the Buckeyes keep in contact with him and are able to get him back on campus, they should remain contenders until the end.

Ohio State has four commitments at the position in the 2025 recruiting class, but it does lack the big-name receiver the Buckeyes tend to get most classes. The Buckeyes already hold a commitment from the top WR in 2026 five-star Chris Henry Jr. and the team has already offered three recruits at the position in the 2027 class, including Dakota Guerrant who was also on campus for Saturday’s game. It was his third visit in the last few months.

McAfee is the No. 8 WR in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and he is the No. 51 overall recruit. He is also the No. 1 recruit from Washington, DC.
