NATIONAL CHAMPS: THE OHIO STATE MEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM DOWNS BYU TO WIN NCAA TITLE

70455_h.jpeg,qitok=kN3ZB11D.pagespeed.ce.rRAV8DD35_.jpg

Ohio State closes the season 31-3, and takes a 23 match win streak into next season, where they'll be a favorite to repeat.

"We'd love to do this in Columbus next year – we've got pretty much everybody coming back," said Hanson. "Everybody's going to be good next year, we're just going to have to work our ass off to defend it
."

Well, would you look at that! Congrats Buckeyes!!!

On a related note, Herbstreit is now distancing himself from the team. Per ESPN, the Nashville Resident says "there's just something not right about this program".

Full 2 hour expose is being filmed.

Congrats to VolleyBucks. Haven't heard, but aren't women in finals as well? Oh well, more points for the Director's Cup. A second would be nice, no one will catch Stanford. BTW, I wish the BasketBucks had a vertical leap like the kid in Scripts post (#72). Nice job guys, and sounds like next year will be there as well. Although it seems that tOSU does better as a 'dog than it does a front-runner........GoBucks!

Apparently women's volleyball is a fall sport.

Lost to #1 Washington in a regional semifinal game on 12/11/15.

Granted 'Bigun. I'd bet a nickel that if you line up the V-ballers versus the B-ballers, there would be on average more height with the V-ballers. They can sky, but they're 6'8" but only about 165 lbs. Wouldn't last under the hoop, nor running up and down the court. Make no mistake, though, those kids can leap out of the gym, and as you opined, sky high and slam downward at a pretty good angle. Surprised that more of 'em don't have smashed noses, because those 'toss downs' are pretty quick. Anyways, V-ball and wrestling (and hopefully mens and womens tennis) will add some points and get tOSU a number 2 in the Sears Director's Cup. Go Bucks.

I'm thinking the Director's Cup changed sponsors:

The physical award is a Waterford crystal trophy. Prior to 2003, the sponsor of the NACDA Directors' Cup was retail merchandiser Sears, and the award was known as the Sears Cup. Beginning in the 2003–2004 season, the sponsor was the United States Sports Academy. In 2007–2008, Learfield Sports assumed the sponsorship of the Directors' Cup.
