Buckeyes go 4-0 in singles and doubles tournament today

With advance to the round of 16, both have earned the title of NCAA All American!.
In Dubs round of 32 Trotter and Boulais split sets and then claimed a super breaker 3rd set win!
Cash and Vocel battled back from a set and break down to force a 2nd set tie breaker. They were successful 7-5 but then fell behind by 6 - 2 in the super breaker. Bucks got hot and closed out the breaker on a 8-2 run to win 10-8.

Well.

Good season Buckeyes. Need to get over the hump in the Final Four and Championship Match (that's all).

Go Buckeyes.

Yeah, I kind of thought that this just might be "the year" too. I'm thinking that the timing just wasn't right though, i.e. just getting over COVID and possibly being "spent" after the 4-2 (come from behind after losing the doubles point) win over scUM in the quarterfinals. Still, there is no shame in getting to the NCAA Tennis Final Four (especially for a cold weather school). Ohio State was the #4 seed; however, both #8 seed Kentucky and #7 seed Virginia just "got hot" at the right time.

I believe that there are some pretty good players coming in next year, i.e. like Bernard, Anthrop, and Stearns:

Ohio State director of tennis Ty Tucker announced the signing of Alexander Bernard to the 2022 class. The Bonita, Fla., native signed a national letter of intent and will join the program next fall.

“We look for Alex to hit the ground running next fall,” said Tucker. “He is currently playing on the ITF professional circuit and having solid results. Alex has won National junior titles, achieved a Top 10 world junior ranking, and is currently earning ATP points in Mexico. This young man likes to compete and is coming to Ohio State to chase titles.”

Bernard is a three-time ITF singles champion and rose No. 9 in the ITF world junior rankings. He also has a career high ATP singles ranking No. 1366. Bernard reached to the round of 16 at both the Australian Open Juniors and the US Open Juniors. He also boasts a multitude of achievements, including wins at the JA Criciuma, J1 Porto Alegre and J1 Salinas, as well as three more ITF boys 16s clay courts doubles titles. This past summer, he reached the semifinals of the Boys 18s singles and doubles at Kalamazoo.

Ty Tucker announced the signing of two high level recruits in the 2022 class. Jack Anthrop and Preston Stearns have each signed national letters of intent and Anthrop will join the program for the second semester in January while Stearns will join next fall.

Anthrop is the No. 4 overall recruit in the class. The Orlando, Fla., native was the top-ranked player in the USTA Boys 14 and 16 rankings and rose to as high as No. 17 in the ITF world junior rankings. He is a five-time ITF singles champion and has reached the semifinals two other times. He’s also won a pair of ITF doubles titles. In 2019, Anthrop was a semifinalist at the 16s Orange Bowl and won the 16s Eddie Herr. This past summer, he competed in both the US Open and French Open juniors. Jack is the son of Don and Heather Anthrop.

“It is nice to have Jack officially sign the papers,” said Tucker. “He has been committed for so long and we can’t wait to start coaching him. This young man has competed around the world and has won titles. You do not get lucky and find yourself at No. 17 in the world junior rankings. Jack can flat out play. I have had a great time getting to know the Anthrop family and look for Jack to help Ohio State Tennis reach the top of the college game.”

Stearns is from Mason, Ohio and is the top-ranked player in Ohio and the No. 24 overall recruit in the class. He won a doubles state title as a freshman at St. Xavier High School. Stearns has a career-high ranking of 186 in the ITF junior rankings and he has a pair of ITF singles titles as well as a doubles crown. He owns a UTR of 12.3 and reached the semifinals of the Boys 18s Clay Court Nationals doubles draw this past summer. Preston is the son of Mike and Denise Stearns and he has a sister Peyton.

“Preston is a very athletic lefty with great potential,” Tucker said. “It is hard to say that a guy is underrated when he is ranked No. 24 in America. This is the case with Preston as I think his best tennis is in front of him. He has shown incredible work ethic and desire when it comes to his tennis. The Stearns family is an extremely competitive tennis family. His sister Peyton is an All-American at Texas and I know Preston wants to match that. We were impressed by the way he trained and competed during the recruiting process, and we’re excited to start working with him.”

Just sayin': Ty Turner really "made out like a bandit" this past season on the transfer portal picking up both Matej Vocel and Jake Van Emburgh. Any speculation on picking up more transfers for 2022/2023 season? With the extra COVID year scUM could return 6 of it's top 7 players (losing only #6 Nick Beaty); Ohio State could still need/use a top tier transfer for 2022/2023.

Great research and info Script...
We may never know the affect and impact of the covid issues on this team.
My Way too early speculation on next year....
Bucks will lose grad transfer JVE and possibly Senior James Trotter.
But I Would not be shocked if grad Matej Vocel is back, he may have another covid year of eligibility.
He and Robert Cash just missed the triple crown of dubs.
Also eligible for 2022-23 Buckeye roster are seniors Cannon Kingsley, the #8 ranked player in ncaa, Robert Cash the best dubs player in ncaa, Justin Boulais, and ncaa singles quarterfinalist and all american junior JJ Tracy.

Redshirt freshman Jack Anthrop is the real deal, his UTR is 13.33, which is higher than JVE. Anthrop arrived on campus ahead of schedule, mission was to get acclimated to ncaa, I would love to one day in retrospect compare his development as similar to JJ Tracy. Had hoped to see Jack get some play but now he will not start his clock till next season.

I'm also a believer in Bernard. A Utr of 13.27 will put him in the lineup next year.
Preston Stearns is a late riser, his potential is off the charts.
His sister Peyton plays for U Texas womens team and pretty much shocked the NCAA with a stellar performance and the 2022 title of NCAA singles tournament champion.
So OSU tennis is not going away any time soon.
Good to be a Buckeye...

Just sayin': With the extra COVID year scUM could get everyone ranked (with the exception of Beaty) back in 2022/2023. Needless to say, if Vocel and Trotter returned it would be HUGE.
