COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the 14th straight season, the Ohio State men's tennis team completed a sweep of the state of Michigan. The Buckeyes took down Michigan State 7-0 in Columbus this afternoon, on the heels of a 5-2 victory against Michigan in Ann Arbor on Friday.
The Buckeyes jumped on the Spartans early, winning the doubles point thanks to victories on courts 2 and 3. Mikael Torpegaard and new doubles partner Matt Mendez made quick work on court 3, taking down Doug Zade and Jasper Koenen of Michigan State 8-3. Kevin Metka and Ralf Steinbach struggled again, dropping back-to-back doubles matches for the first time this season, losing 8-3 on court 1. The decision then came down to Hunter Callahan and Chris Diaz, who continued their strong doubles play with an 8-4 victory on court 2 to secure the point for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State kept the momentum going into singles, winning 5 of the 6 first sets. Callahan was the first to finish for the Buckeyes, defeating Harry Jadun in straight sets on court 3 6-3, 6-2. Torpegaard followed shortly after with a dominant performance on court 1, taking down Gijs Linders 6-1, 6-2. Torpegaard is now 19-7 on the season, and is the highest ranked Buckeye singles player at number 28.
With the Buckeyes leading 3-0, Kevin Metka closed out his match on court 6, defeating Jasper Koenen 6-3, 6-4 to secure the win for Ohio State. With the new conference rules, all singles matches are played to completion, allowing Ralf Steinbach to finish his match on court 5 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory. Diaz took his match in a second set tiebreaker 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), putting all eyes on Herkko Pollanen on court 4.

Buckeyes are in the heart of their spring schedule with 2 matches this weekend , Friday at #19 northwestern and Sunday at #3 illinois,
Tonight's match vs. wildcats just went final with bucks prevailing 5-2.
Sunday will be the battle of B1G unbeatens and barring any later upset the winner on Sunday will lay claim to the conference crown in 2015.

Losing 4-0, the Illini dominated, doesn't even look like the Buckeyes were even in the match....not good....:huh:

Buckeyes prevail at Iowa by a 4-1 final,
And in a shocker out of Minnesota, gophers took down undefeated Illinois,
The loss for Illini sets up the real probability of a 3 way tie for the B1G conference regular season title.
Head to head results are a wash with each of the 3 going 1-1 against the others,
Just when it appeared that 2014, and number 9 would be the last consecutive title, 2015 could become a shared title for the good guys.

The buckeyes close out the regular season conference with a record of 10-1.
Todays 4-1 win at Nebraska and Minnesota win over northwestern left 3 teams in first place with 10-1 records.
And thus a tenth straight big 10 regular season title (shared with Illinois and Minnesota) will be added to the trophy case. Hopefully a mod can update this on buckeye planet title. :)
Next up is the conference tournament at Illinois this weekend, Bucks will be a top 3 seed and play on Friday,
and then the NCAA tournament will start the weekend of May 8-10 with OSU hosting a regional qualifying round.
