Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 19 Straight B1G Titles)

Just as they are able to relax and catch their breath, here comes another critical weekend vs. the new B1G west coast powers.
Will be a fun weekend in the Tucker center.

Absolutely love to see how this hometown young man’s game is developing. He put 2 crucial singles points on the board last weekend, without which Bucks lose two instead of claiming both road wins up north.

No. 4 Ohio State hits the road for the final time in the regular season and will take on Illinois and Northwestern this weekend. The match with the Illini will start at 7 p.m. ET on Friday while the match Sunday at Northwestern is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
  • Ohio State is 20-2 overall on the season and 9-0 in conference play. The Buckeyes are coming off of two 4-0 wins against UCLA and USC in Columbus last weekend.
  • With a pair of wins this weekend, Ohio State would clinch at least a share of its 19th consecutive Big Ten title and its 22nd overall.
  • Friday will be the second of two regular season meetings between Ohio State and Illinois. On March 5, the Buckeyes beat the Fighting Illini 4-0 in a non-conference match at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
  • That was the 17th win in the last 18 meetings over Illinois and the Buckeyes are now 36-14 against the Illini since Ty Tucker took over 2000.
  • Overall, Ohio State leads the all-time series with Illinois 59-54-1. Illinois is currently 12-8 overall and 5-4 in Big Ten play. The Illini were swept 4-0 by both Michigan and Michigan State last weekend.
  • On Sunday afternoon, the Buckeyes will be looking for their 24th consecutive win over the Wildcats. The Buckeyes are 28-1 against Northwestern since 2000.
  • Last season, Ohio State defeated Northwestern 4-0 in Columbus. Northwestern is currently 11-13 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Wildcats were also swept by Michigan last weekend and suffered a 6-1 setback at Michigan State.
  • Three Buckeyes are ranked in the latest ITA singles rankings. Aidan Kim remains in the Top 10 at No. 10, while Alexander Bernard holds at No. 60 and Jack Anthrop at No. 92.
  • In doubles, Will Jansen and Bryce Nakashima both claimed wins last weekend and moved up to No. 60 as a team.
  • Jack Anthrop has won his last 11 singles matches and is now 18-1 in dual singles matches this spring.
  • Alexander Bernard won a pair of singles matches last weekend and is now 17-8 overall on the year.
  • Aidan Kim has 11 singles wins over ranked opponents this year.
  • Brandon Carpico is undefeated in dual singles matches this spring and is a team-best 30-4 in doubles matches overall on the year.
Just sayin': They beat both UCLA and UCLA; and drop to #4........:mad2:

Heck, the whole tennis team can jump on tOSU private jet, no? Or do both men and women travel together on a charter, to each play their appropriate west coast gender, and then wing it up to Oregon and Washington? A travel point that the powers that be didn't take into account, am thinking.....
