Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

We'll need to win 4 out of 6 of the singles, #3 doubles dropped the breaker at 7-5. Tough one but I think we can take:
#2 C Buchanan is playing sharp, much better player than UK's Musialek.
#3 M. Allare is bumped up a spot, I think Ty is taking advantage of a perceived weakness in his opponent, Brad Cox.
#5 Novak/ McCarthy not sure which is which but either should be favored
#6 McCarthy/Novak see #5.
Would love to see Rola defeat Quigley at #1 but that will be a huge challenge in Lexington. Rola will have his hands full and will need to be patient and extremely sharp.
Also VanEnglen looks to be playing #4, and if he could prevail, that would be a huge bonus.
Go Bucks!
:oh:

edit: now looks like a different lineup--no Ilie Vanenglen, Kobelt at #6.
Also kind of funny, I didn't realize that Devin McCarthy's dad Dennis had any eligibility left.

Rola/Novak (not sure which one) actually served for the doubles point at 7-5, but got broken and then lost the tiebreak.

Off to a slow start in the singles matches - down an early break in 3 of the matches, and on serve in the other 3.

Ouch, those are difficult to swallow.

Right now in singl;es it looks like Shuhei is playing some dominant tennis.
could put tOSU's 1st point on the board.

Novak, Rola & Buchanan will need to battle back after dropping their 1st sets.
Looks like Buchanan is starting the 2nd strong.
Matt Allare, put the hammer down!
Dennis McCarthy is in pretty good shape for a 50 year old man, just hope he has some wheels left at his age. :wink2:

Uzawa evens things up at 1-1

Rola is down a set and a break, while Allare is up a set and a break. Both of the guys leading are now serving for the match.

If those matches finish like that, it'll be 2-2 with 3 singles matches left.

Buchanan lost the first set, but is up a break in the second.

Novak lost the first set.

McCarthy is serving to force a tiebreak in his first set.

Getting 2 of those 3 points will require strong finishes.

Let's go Bucks!

Rola with a huge break to even the 2nd now up 6- 5.
McCarthy will now need a comeback after dropping the breaker.
Props to Buchanan, who took the 2nd to even his match.
I think Allare was actually on serve, now in a breaker.
Would love to see Novak pull a stunner for the big victory,.

Do they update the 'served first' indicator for each set?

Allare closed out the 2nd set in a tiebreak, and Rola is in one for his 2nd set.

Novak won the second set 6-0, and already has a break in the 3rd.

I don't think they update the served first indicator for each set.

It also seemed like from the flow of the Allare match that they had the served first indicator wrong to begin with, can't imagine Matt breaking and getting broken so often.
Rola with a huge comeback to take the 2nd set breaker!

Rola won his tiebreak. McCarthy is down a set and a break.

Looks like there will be three 3-set matches, and the Bucks need to win 2 of them.

Buchanan, Rola, and Novak: 2 of those guys need to come through.

I think if everything is correct on the served first indicators,
McCarthy is down a break in the 2nd, Gonzo serving at 3-2.
Novak is up a break, serving at 2-0
Buchanan should have served first and is down a break in the 3rd. (edit, I hope I am wrong about this one)
Quiqley would serve first in the 3rd to Rola.

That makes sense. If Rola didn't serve first in the first set, then after a 4-6, 6-7 pair of sets I think that means he started the third, and he's down 0-1. Don't they switch who starts a set after a 7-6 set?

Edit - probably that indicator is wrong, because it's 1-1 now.
