Big Time show down is scheduled at the Varsity Indoor Tennis Center at Noon today.
The SEC sends the Georgia Bulldogs ranked #11 in the NCAA to face the #4 ranked OSU Buckeyes.
From the OSU official tennis site.
A Glance at Georgia
The Bulldogs are coming off an undefeated showing in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend tournament as hosts, defeating Oklahoma State, 4-0, in the first round of action, before handing No. 20 North Carolina its first loss of the season, 4-1. Georgia won its eighth-consecutive season opener Jan. 24, shutting out the Clemson Tigers, 7-0, to move to 47-9 all-time in season openers. The Bulldogs are lead by 13th-ranked and senior All-American Javier Garrapiz, who is still perfect on the season and building off a 33-win season in 2009-10.
Last year, the Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 21-8, finishing 9-3 in the SEC. They were 16-3 at home, where they hosted the NCAA men's tennis championships for a record 26th time. Georgia advanced to the semifinals while playing on its home courts in the NCAA tournament before falling to No. 2 Tennessee, 4-1. All of the Bulldogs' regular-season losses were vs. teams ranked No. 10 or better
.

The article does not account for Georgia's hottest player right now. It is not Garrapiz, who at #13 in the ITA rankings is exceptional
The Bulldogs have the SEC's best player in Will Spencer. (BN24's hitting partner in junior tennis) :wink2:
Spencer dominated at the SEC indoor tournament in mid January, in the process winning against the likes of SEC's premier singles players:
#4 ranked Alexandre Lacroix of Florida.
#13 ranked Javier Garrapiz of UGA.
and #2 ranked Eric Quigley of UK.
Right now the Georgia lineup is arguably the best in the SEC, featuring Spencer at #1 and Garrapiz at #2 singles. This will be the best 1-2 punch Buchanan and Rola will face this year. The Buckeyes will need an epic performance today to extend the nation's longest home winning streak of 116.
Need the fans to bring energy to the Varsity Indoor Tennis Center.
Buckeyes at home can monitor the action in progress on Livestats

Seems like UGA should be higher than #11.

Agreed, and depending on the outcome of today's match they may be polled higher in the ITA rankings that will be released on Tuesday.
Obviously the early polls don't matter much, but
I think they are better than Florida, UCLA, Baylor, and Texas A & M.

The Bull Dogs strong run in the NCAA's last spring should have boosted their rankings.

Correct and good observation about the SEC traveling north of the Mason Dixon line for competition. SEC Tennis coaches don't know about the 2nd ammendment yet!
OSU went to Oxford, Athens, and Baton Rouge last year and they will complete home and home with UK, U Louisville, and UNC this year.
Ty does not shy away from scheduling the cream of the crop.
The recap of today's victory over #11 Georgia is posted on the OSU Tennis Site.

For the second time this weekend, the No. 4 Ohio State men's tennis team captured a 6-1 victory over a ranked SEC team as it handed the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs their first loss of the season Sunday at the Varsity Indoor Tennis Center. For the third-consecutive match the Buckeyes have defeated a ranked opponent and with the victory, they have won a school-record 117-consecutive home matches.
In three highly-contested doubles matches, Ohio State proved victorious in the final two to earn the doubles point. Buckeyes Devin McCarthy and Balazs Novak let a 6-4 lead slip away as they lost a close one to Georgia's Wil Spencer and Drake Bernstein, 8-6, in the first doubles match.
Ohio State would win the last two matches in nail-biting fashion. In a battle of Top 25-ranked teams, senior Matt Allare and redshirt-freshman Peter Kobelt came away with an 8-6 victory. The No. 6-ranked team in the country, Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola fought back after trailing early to come away with an 8-6 win over the No. 14-ranked team of Javier Garrapiz and Hernus Pieters to claim the doubles point for Ohio State.
Singles play included eight players that were part of the initial ITA singles rankings. Buchanan was the first Buckeye to finish, defeating No. 13 Garrapiz in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-3. Novak also won in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-2, over Campbell Johnson to give the Buckeyes their third point of the afternoon. Both Novak and Buchanan moved to 7-0 in dual singles action this season.
In the closest two-set match of the day, Rola, the seventh-ranked player in the country, handed Spencer, No. 53 in the country, a 6-1, 7-6 (11-9) loss. Rola improved to 19-2 in singles action on the year. Freshman Ille Van Engelen came back after losing the first set to down Bernstein 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Rounding out singles competition, McCarthy won a, 6-7, 6-4, 10-6, decision over Bulldog Hernus Pieters. Allare was the lone Buckeye coming up empty-handed, falling to No. 47 Sadio Doumbia in a tough match, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
The Buckeyes will host another SEC opponent when the LSU Tigers visit Columbus at 5 p.m. Feb. 12th. Ohio State will then make its first road trip of the season to Chapel Hill, N.C., to play the No. 20 Tar Heels at 2:30 p.m.

I am thoroughly confused when I look at the match results. I do not understand how McCarthy, Allare, and the one guy from Georgia (that Buchanan spanked) can all be ranked above Chase. Are these rankings coming from the ITA site:huh: I was also think that when the new rankings come out tomorrow that Van Engelen could be ranked but since he is new to the United States in might take him a while to achieve his appropriate ranking... no:huh:

The ITA rankings are sure frustrating, and Litl your topic of conversation/inquiry seems to happen every year about now.
Here is the PDF of the ITA FAQ's about the rankings.
ITA Rankings FAQ

If you can get things figured out and have peace about this whole matter, then . . .

Please explain it to me, because early in the year rankings for both teams and individuals vacilate between the head scratcher and the bizarre!

I started to read the rankings file and after reading the first paragraph from the player who was unranked and beat one player ranked #40 and the other ranked #70 but his wins did not matter because the two ranked players were not ranked last year. After reading that answer, I was almost afraid to go on:lol:

The rest of that FAQ is fairly confusing for a novice like me. I think they should just start with everyone even when the indoor season begins and then go from there. I don't know who makes up the ITA Rankings Committee but they need to take a good hard look at what they are doing:crazy: because right now it sure is a mess.
