Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Our young guys, some who do not play this year, only will get bigger and stronger like Buchanan did this season and we have some pretty good recruits coming in for next season to give the more seasoned guys some quality practice. We will only get better over the coming years but I think everyone has to realize that we are still, as already mentioned, a northern school but Tucker is the man:bow:

Props to all of the guys for a great run :highfive:
almost forgot:censored: the trojans

I see on the website Kronauge is a Senior, I'm sure it'll hurt to lose him next year, who are some up and comers we should be looking at to lead this team for the next few years.
Mr. Tennis probably has more knowledge than myself regarding players that are currently on the team. However, there is a freshman who is on the roster by the name of Kolbelt, who probably will play doubles, at Ohio State. He won last year's Ohio high school's championship at #1 singles and the year before won the doubles championship. He is around 6'7" below after getting those stronger. There are also a couple other freshman who will join the team next year. One is from Worthington Kilbourne and his name is Metka and probably will win the Ohio singles for high school this year. He will have to get much stronger to be a factor at the college level next year. The same is true of another guy joined the team whose name I cannot remember. I know there is a kid from Wisconsin who either joined the team last year or will be joining the team this coming Fall. I would rather not go any further than this year's recruits.

Official OSu tennis roster this is the Buckeye roster for this year.

Good observation BN24,
Next year the one significant loss, Captain Kronauge will have expired his eligibility.
What a tremendous 4 years he has given to tOSU tennis.
He leaves as the all time Buckeye leader for doubles wins, tied for single's victories with Moneke and combined wins leader 270 passing Bryan Koniecko at 254.
Kronauge will have the NCAA single's tournament this week to attempt to pass Moneke's record.
About the recruits coming next year. . . .
Nelson Vick is a class of 2010 blue chip recruit (think 5 star top 25 football recruit). He graduated early and joined the team at Spring quarter.
Wyatt Lippert and Peter Kobelt are both red shirt freshmen.
They are in the same class (2009) as and were ranked above the level of Devin McCarthy (early enrollee).

We have not seen the best tennis yet from the most talented freshman, Dino Marcan.
IMHO year in Ty Tucker's conditioning and strength program will increase his play to the level we witnessed of Chase's 2010 improvement. He has the tools, just needs strength, power, and serve pace in his game.

The last and most intriguing possibility for next year is the surprise Tucker finds in the world of international recruiting. Tucker has some strong reputation and credible name recognition among juniors who are competing overseas.
Junior academies and international circuits are ripe with young talent that often exceeds the potential and rankings of American juniors. (think Novak, Shuhei, Marcan) A check of the rosters of the NCAA tennis programs reveals the elite are recruiting the international circuits hard.

Final match will be televised by ESPNU at 6.

Singles and doubles draw will be announced tomorrow.
Anything that keeps Georgia from winning a National champsionhip - in ANYTHING - is a good thing. :banger:

Congratulations to the tennis Buckeyes on their Big Ten championship and great season.
+1

Sorry you had to meet that buzz saw. uSC is on right now. But a great season...and you did not lose to your bitter rival. :(

The great thing is you guys have established an outstanding national rep through your consistency - and developed a program that will keep on reloading. Kudos.

Since this thread has loads of tennis fans, I am proud to say the Lady Gators will play Stanford in the NCAA Women's finals tomorrow. Go gata...

What no pictures? :yow1:
Seriously the Lady Gators are a solid and hot team.
They have not dropped a point in Athens, winning 3 straight matches at 4-love.

Florida is right at home in Athens.

The Gators defeated North Carolina, 4-0, on Monday to advance to the final of the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, where Florida is 7-0 this year.

"So far, (Athens has) been really good to us," Florida coach Roland Thornqvist said.

Freshman Lauren Embree defeated North Carolina's Sanaz Marand 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 at No. 1 singles to clinch the match and send the Gators to their first NCAA final since they defeated Stanford to win the 2003 championship . . .

Hard to figure how UVA, OSU, and USC all end up on one side of the draw. Brutal.

I see you've changed tactics now and are trying to slip one by me by sticking it in an OSU thread.

Yep - this forum is other "OSU" and professional sports. Now, with all the cheating possible in Gatorland...you might consider it a professional team....

seriously though - this is a buckeye board and I don't give a shit about Florida or any part of their program. You want to congratulate them - do it on the Florida board. Not here.
