Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Flo tennis is a pay per view covering college tennis. :smash:
Love that Torp overcame the adversity of a 2 break deficit twice, and that questionable overrule and point penalty from the chair that cost him a win at 5-4 in the 3rd set.

Bucks will get Virginia tomorrow in the finals, match begins at 11 am.
Cavs took care of UNC by a 4-0 count.
wish it might have gone longer ...
yesterday when coach Tucker was asked about his teams chances of winning it all.
His answer, "about 3.7%"
I think the odds improved a bit after today's upset,
I'd predict he would now answer, "about 8.7%"
Bucks are a serious underdog to a dominant UVa with home court advantage.

UVa is very solid,

so far they beat #16 Utah State 4-0, beat #8 UCLA 4-0, and beat #5 UNC 4-0.

I have become a fan of the Universal Tennis Ranking system (UTR).
UTR is a combination of all tournaments, and it seems to be more accurate than ITA rankings in predicting head to head match ups.
this is a quick glimpse at the UTR comparisons for UVA vs. OSU head to head tomorrow.
............................UVA .......................................... OSU
#1 ...Collin Altamirano (14.33 UTR) ........Mikael Torpegaard (15.21 UTR). OSU +.88
#2 ...Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (14.87 UTR)..Hugo Di Feo (14.02 UTR)........... UVA +.85
#3 ...Carl Soderlund (14.61 UTR) ...........JJ Wolf (14.42 UTR) ................. UVA +.19
#4 ...JC Aragone (14.43 UTR).................Herkko Pollanen (13.96 UTR) .... UVA +.47
#5 ...Alex Ritschard (14.56 UTR).............Martin Joyce (13.63 UTR) ......... UVA +.93
#6 ...Henrik Wiersholm (14.32 UTR)........Kyle Seelig (13.93 UTR) ........... UVA +.39

Can you help me better understand the UTR? According to the numbers for Virginia, Altamirano would be playing 5th based on his UTR, but he is at #1. Obviously, the UTR does not fully capture a player's ability, but why the discrepancy between that number and where Altamirano plays in the lineup?

Thanks for any insight.

Whatever this was it wasn't good:

Tubert stopped playing on 3 due to a fan yelling out - Ohio State won the point but the chair has given the point to UVA since OSU stopped

Just sayin': The Buckeye's double teams (Torpegaard/Pollanen, Joyce/Di Feo, and Mendez/Tubert) just don't seem to as dominate as their teams in years past.

The Buckeyes now need to win 4 of the 6 single matches to bring home the hardware:
