Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Well, if you want to be #1, you have to beat the best.

:osu:

How to beat the best?

Its no doubt Ty is looking over the lineup to find a way he can get 4 wins out of the squad.
Uva is undefeated and #1 ranked for a reason. They gave the Buckeyes one of their 2 losses on the season at the ITA indoor championships in February. Does UVa have any vulnerabilities?
I believe VA might be overlooking some matches i.e. Stanford and hopefully the Buckeyes will find some complacency and cavalier attitude in the UVa lineup with the anticipated showdown of UVa vs. two time defending champion USC in the finals. So how does Ty find 4 wins vs. the undefeated and arguably best team in the NCAA?

Tucker is hoping Buckeyes can capture the double's point much like vs. Baylor with #2 Buchanan and Uzawa and #3 Rola and Novak.
UVa's #1 doubles is extremely strong and will be strongly favored, Allare and Kobe will need to play out of their league to get a W.

In the single's lineup;

Tucker is hoping that yesterday's losses by UVa's #1 and #2 singles was not an anomaly.
Shabaz and Domijan are both top 5 in the ITA rankings and will be extremely difficult to dent for Rola and Buchanan.
I believe Tucker would love to split the 1 and 2.
#3 Singh for UVa should be too strong for VanEngelen, would love to see the Buckeye freshman put together a solid show and represent the Scarlet and Gray with an upset, but Singh is real good.
#4-6 are where the match will be determined.
At 4 Matt Allare will face Jarmere Jenkins, with the edge to UVa. Would love to see the Senior Captain go out a victor in his career at OSU.
At 5 and 6, Ty must be thinking the Buckeyes need to win both to get the team win.
Novak is so steady and can drive opponents to madness with his consistency. A prolonged match for Novak is a good omen for the Bucks.
McCarthy has been more inconsistent, plays with intense emotion and when things are going well, Devin is unbeatable. Tucker is probably hoping to dial up the positive and dominant McCarthy.
So to win tomorrow Buckeyes will need to win the doubles point and 3 of the singles, I would love to see #1, #5 & #6.
Without the double's point Buckeye's will need to win those 3 and find an upset somewhere else.
Fans can monitor the live video feed of the NCAA semifinals from Sanford starting at 3 pm.

This is an Ohio State men's tennis thread. Please take that topic somewhere else.

Thanks Sherriff, order is now restored to this little place in the Planet. :)

A video recap of the NCAA quarterfinals with some great footage of the OSU victory.
Also impressive turnout for host Stanford to create that hostile environment vs. UVa.

ok whoa, my scoreboard just went from 7-6 40-0 to now #1 dubs serving for the match again at 8-7..something is screwy cause I thought UVA served at 7-6, which holding would make it 7-7 and OSU holding make it 8-7, but they have OSU serving at 8-7

ok, #1 dubs in tie break now up 2-0
